Cement guy, occasional concrete fella, DC statehood always In your walls, decarbonizing your industry

DC Fam: Yall okay? I counted 9 downed trees walking Stella this morning. Dozens of broken branches, debris everywhere. My backyard fence is completely fucked, but it looks like some people got way worse. Lmk if you need a hand clearing stuff, I have a chainsaw and sawzall.

New: The bitter primary season may be over, but the battle over the future of the D.C. Democratic party is still raging. In my first @51st.news story, I take a look at all the drama unfolding within the D.C. Dems, and what it says about this new moment in local politics: 51st.news/dc-democrati...

The drama in the local Democratic party didn’t end with the primaries

The fault lines between progressive and establishment Democrats have only deepened since the election.

I really dislike posts like this. It’s cynicism masquerading as poignancy. It completely discounts the work that millions of Americans, myself included, are currently doing in support of a healthier climate. Betting on climate is disgusting. There are better ways to talk about this.

Instead of doing something about climate change, Americans are just going to bet on it:
Kalshi Trade what's next.
Paul trades on Weather

Man, you know DC late summer has arrived when the cicadas start sounding off. When I was a kid, it meant the start of my dad taking me to soccer practice and the end of my mom’s summer meals. Couple more weeks and we’ll be at that moment when DC is the most beautiful place on earth.

Oh wow is it another day when a bunch of political, policy, and procedural tourists log on to scream at those feckless Democrats? I can’t wait for some dipshit with video games or sports commentator in bio to breathlessly comment on something they know nothing about. Fucking tourists.

correct, and it seems a lot of people are jumping to a conclusion that because jeffries took a meeting that they also signed some magic immunity deal or whatever to prevent anyone from doing oversight on jared, which is firmly in making up a version of democrats in your head to get mad at territory

I can only speak to the policy part of this effort (not finance or campaign), but I want yall to know that the pencils are out. And they have been out. January ‘27 will be the sandbox, January ‘29 will be the change. Decarbonization is going to give you cleaner air and cheaper electricity.

Oh, huh, Andy Ogles was taken down by the same clean-energy super PAC that sank Chip Roy www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

The most glaring double standard in American politics today is that if a Democrat said 1/10th about GOP-leaning areas what this guy says about cities on the daily there'd be a media dogpile so swift and vicious there'd be nothing left of their bones for the hyenas to pick at.

Trump: "You see it in the blue states run by Democrats -- everything is filthy dirty all the time. The cities stink The sidewalks are loaded w/horrible stuff. I don't want to use the term bc my wife hates it. She hates it when I imitate no men in women's sports, when I do the weightlifter."

Please, Maryland voters, do the right thing. I won’t comment on your driving or your flag. I will snort Old Bay in accordance with your rituals. I will buy a Ravens jersey. I will admit that Baltimore is sick. Anything to be able to tell Andy Harris to fuck off. Dude hates DC and we hate him back.

NEW: Maryland Democrats just passed a constitutional amendment that would let them redraw the congressional map for 2028 in response to Republican gerrymanders elsewhere. If voters pass it in November, Democrats could enact a map like this earlier proposal to target the lone Republican, Andy Harris
