partial list of some artists who various sorts of people also interested in electronic music expect me to hold in acclaim, whom I do not really give a damn about: – Burial – Daft Punk – Depeche Mode – Oneohtrix Point Never – Porter Robinson – Portishead

despite overall changes in my vision of what would be the key highlights, for long I've had this sense that surely somewhere has to be a corner of the internet that has a community of friendly–aligned people vaguely geographically close to me

RYM friend going into some "actually this music artist is problematic [citation: social media] and you should not recommend their music to anyone" shpiel. Once again would be nice to have better company in this world than this sort of neurotic busybodies.

Suppose we possessed, by some way (maybe electrically suspended in vacuum), two isolated quarks. Would we, by current knowledge, have any way of telling if they were of the same color, or of different ones?

seen at a GC, "the big fights of the human condition" > I hate getting old > I wanna get laid > I hate losing my hair > I hate my job and boss and the struggle to survive > I hate cancer where 1 2 5 yeah yeah we know…, but also: I will raise a cheer at not suffering from 4 and actually enjoying 3 👨‍🦲

password management tends to get me procrastinating. for some reason this hits me very hard when anything involves Phone, I have so far installed zero apps on my new one and never got up to more than 2–3 on my previous two

Tonight's small internet moment: discovering that a 90s demoscene music artist "BeaT" I (vaguely) knew (of) is also known to me as a 10s Homestuck music team guy "Beatfox" (I aspire to be this type of a discovery to someone some day)

Doing cleanup of old Bandcamp links at RateYourMusic (I have been putting in substantial work on crosslinking these sites for ~15 years now). I get it when artists prefer to present quality work and remove old demos or other similar bad early material, but many other less explicable deletions too.

A mostly sleepless last night was spent on considering the question of if there have been real long-term turning points in the history of music; anything truly new, different from everything that had come before? I have settled on the view that, thus far: there are precisely two

Tangerine Dream – Phaedra (1974)Hatsune Miku, holding the Earth in her hands

two month's experience of bluesky leaves me with the impression this is indeed a better platform but slighly worse website and, still, much worse social network than 𝕏. most people just are not here and without that it's going to remain limited utility

> profile line: "always annoying online" thank you for your enthusiastic interest in being blocked, and for good measure let's maybe block also the next step in the chain that resulted on him on my feed. who was maybe not openly annoyingness-committed but "being a journalist" is enough of a crime

Once again an interesting reference out of the blue. This here is why I plan on sticking with Twitter for professional uses: in the Anglosphere, even somewhat crankish and racist righties still have a far more serious interest in historical truth and scholarship than typical leftie linguistics fans.

Twitter user "Pseudo-Academic" describing a paper they're interested in acquiring, by Victor Golla in 1997, on a Wanderwort analysis connecting North American words for 'knife', 'metal', such as Proto-Algonquian *wešʷ, with the Uralic family of the same (which has members such as Hungarian vas /vɔʃ/ 'iron').

nothing new about the suspended-on-twxttxr saga on my end (I am on my 3rd appeal cycle, could maybe be sending them in faster tho), but on browsing back I noticed a mutual doing some tracking of these sorta issues. good to know some people remain concerned of all this x.com/noa_tate_/st...

i was shadowbanned on here from june 22-27, 2026. some of you know, most probably don't. let's interrupt regularly scheduled programming for a thread about that.

Posting one of the better Magritte riffs I've seen; from and in remembrance of The Flowfield Unity, a long-dead webcomic from 2007. There sure are a lot of these that in time just turn into fully or partially lost media entirely…

Picture of a drill with the captions "This is not a drill / I repeat, this is not a drill"

Strange dream of the night: moving into some massive ~15-bedroom communal apartment together with my sister's family, my parents, my brother-in-law's parents, and also at least two families of complete strangers. It had normal rooms / normal sub-apartments but also extremely mazey common areas

A maybe handy mnemonic I worked out some years ago: TEMNAIOG is the eight first Morse code symbols, ordered by length, then alphabetically • Dash = T, Dot = E • Dash dash = M, Dash dot = N, Dot dash = A, Dot dot = I • Dash dash dash = O, Dash dash dot = G Continues then KDWRUS thru the 3-combos.

Took a stroll over to "For You", main use I got out of it was blocking / muting annoying posters for maybe two hours straight. Let's try that again sometime later once I know more accounts here that I *do* like seeing
