ok so im working on my new website right. I asked the robot to implement @chrisshank.com's AT Tags. IT WORKS. the @aturi.to extension detected the tag and I can open my blog posts directly in @standard-reader.app

It's not about data ownership, it's about who we are delegating trust to store our data, steward and moderate our digital spaces, curate our feeds, etc. The hegemonic social media platforms are predicated on the premise that end-users have no agency to begin with.

atproto offers an fascinating example of what it means to restructure this relationship. End-users get to choose who and how much trust they delegate to software producers, the delegation of trust becomes tangible and revokable.

Personally I would love to see AT records to have more fluidity in the permissioned spaces they can flow through, as opposed to the space being the singular pseudo-authority.

currently only works for atmo.rsvp links, still figuring out how best to do that meta tags stuff like standard site, but smokesignal and atmo already share the same lexicons so all smokesignal events/rsvps should appear on atmo and vice versa

This is also why I think calling atproto a "decentralized protocol" is missing nuance. The protocol is about connection, it's the running infrastructure that has the power and that's what we need to distribute the governance of.
