GPT, Claude, Gemini and the Google Overview AI's are all addicted to speed. There's a literal race to feed info into a query. Winners have a chance to have their link show up in the result. When it comes to citing sources, fast sites win.

It's trite to compare AI and the dot-com boom. Having lived both, there's a dark undertone in AI discourse that was never there in the early days of the World Wide Web. I picking apart the reasons for this can be a fun intellectual exercise, but more often than not I just find it makes me sad.

agreed - the idea-as-implemented isn't sufficient for most creative workflows, though. "You can just store your architectural diagrams in markdown in git and make them available via RSS with a custom diff algorithm. Collaboration problem solved!"
