It's taken over a year of on-and-off work, but my scratch build of Metal Gear REX is finally finished!! I'm super happy with it, and proud to have completed a project that felt so intimidating at the start. Excited to figure out what I'm making next!

One of my oldest pieces when I was learning to draw exclusively with pens was this one of Ryu Soma, redrawn from this opening.

Good morning, folks.

I wanna take a few minutes to talk about some big changes that are coming and how the video schedule may be affected.

Earlier this year, I made a community post where I talked about moving to Ohio. I went up there to see the house I'd be moving into and meet the owner. She was cool with me moving in, but she said no cats. Her reasons were spurious, but neither I nor the friend I'd be living with were in a position to argue. I couldn't bear to part with my fur baby, and after giving it a bit more thought, being in a completely new state where the only person I knew would be away for weeks at a time for his job was...well, it would have been isolating.

To make a long story short, I settled on a new destination. At the end of August, I'll be moving to Rhode Island. I have several friends in the area, and I'll be able to live on my own without having to worry about roommates and their schedules and messes. I can record voiceover or shoot B roll whenever I need to, and I won't have to part with my one-eyed cat.

I've crunched the numbers and it's a change I can definitely swing, but it's going to be a bit tight. I still have a part-time day job to keep my physically active and grounded, and I would like to keep working there three days per week after the move so that I can maintain consistency. Having to go up an extra day there could throw me off my rhythm of one video every ~2 months, which could have a cascading effect.

I've been thinking about what the upload schedule for the rest of this year and all of 2027 will be. 2026 is pretty locked in at this point (Halo 2 on September 22, Jak X in early November, Halo 3 on December 8), but aside from KH 358/2 Days in March and Final Fantasy XI in December, everything else is in flux.

Final Fantasy XI is the biggest concern right now in light of these considerations. It's the project that is going to need the most resources, be it because of the monthly subscription (which I would like to add onto at some point to expand my Mog Wardrobe and add more character slots) or importing back issues of Famitsu, Dengeki, or NetGames to gather as much info as I can on the game's development and evolution. The tighter things are, the harder it becomes to get these things. And that's without touching on maintenance for older consoles and the equipment to do it. I don't have a soldering iron or, say, an iFixIt kit to replace the DVD laser on my PS1 or a GameCube, and when the choice is between that and rent, the choice is obvious.

I have wanted to escape Florida ever since I got here, and now I finally have the ability to do so. I miss having seasons other than Summer. I despise the heat and humidity. And that's to say nothing of the political climate here.

I'm going to continue my work no matter what, even if budgets have to be reallocated to be able to survive. But I want to be able to do this while maintaining a reasonably high standard of quality.

I don't like to be super loud and pushy about my Patreon, especially after having recently had a successful GoFundMe for my cat's eye surgery (it went well and she's doing great; happy, healthy kitty), but this is one of those times when I'd rather get out in front of any potential problems that could come up in the future than start pleading when things are already catastrophically bad.
