I am increasingly concerned I’m witness to a new alt-right pipeline forming. I’m having to unfollow a surprising number of people who seem totally different from when I originally followed.

Ginger joined us two months ago. Couldn’t figure out why she stopped eating last couple weeks. Turns out she wants company/an audience. Unless it’s a box of treats, which she’ll knock over in the middle of the night and fight until it spills its contents.

A thing my cat does is forget to check if there’s food in his bowl and assumes there isn’t and screams and smacks me awake and then I carry him to his bowl and he looks at it like “huh, would you look at that” and then he happily nibbles away like he didn’t just do a bunch of terrorism for no reason

Today is my late grandmother’s birthday. The first without her. In 2001, she booked a White House tour to celebrate. Having not turned on the television that day, she and my grandfather showed up but couldn’t find a tour guide (obvs). So they gave themselves a tour of the grounds AND building.

Every day I wonder if the government has access to AI chats the way they’ve been able to access Google searches.

Happy 25th birthday to the modern surveillance state!

Someone today asked how 9/11 affected us. Well, the gov became very concerned w/ hazmat. They sent my dad, a small-town firefighter, to extensive hazmat training. Then he developed a training program for area departments. The Feds recruited from that program (Dad declined).

I do not want a phone that requires two hands. I already have a laptop, and like any good Millennial, I only use it for special purchases and serious emails.

I know someone who sued their school district for “forcibly transitioning their child.” The “forced transition” amounted to a teacher using the chosen name the child communicated on the first day of class.

I actually can’t share the MOST unhinged thing, but it’s THAT bad. But a doctor told me, “You’re not neurodivergent. You just have anxiety and a learning disability.” The anxiety meds did not help. But the ADHD meds from a doctor who took me seriously did significantly reduce my anxiety.

It’s a Fair Question….. “Why is it that it takes 900 years and 5000 impact studies to build high speed rail but a 5 minute city council meeting is all it takes to approve a massive data center?”

From the very first scene, I said to myself “Oh this is theatre.” When I thought of it from a Classical language perspective, yeah, it annoyed me. When I considered it as a theatre/history of theatre nerd, yeah, it delighted me.

President gave them their player back and in return they gave the other team the ball over and over again. And I think that’s kinda nice.

A single tomato costs five dollars at my local grocer right now. I’m not throwing good money at people who suck. And I’m sure as hell not letting a single tomato go rotten. Is there a cheaper alternative?

Just saw someone suggest the answer to “AI layoffs” is to vibe code an app you can sell to people. The whole point of vibe-coded apps is that your potential customer never has to pay you. They can build it themselves.

If I were a Democrat trying to make some headway in Utah, I might point out that Trump put someone in a key decision-making role who blithely dismissed the safety of 3.5 million Utah residents, and joked about how no one lives there.

In my inbox today: “I was right about copywriting making a comeback. My work requests are full of people who tried AI and conversions fell off a cliff. Sign up for my course.” And yet this same person has loudly proclaimed they use AI art in all their materials.

When I worked at a restaurant, we’d run after anyone who forgot their boxed leftovers. Chase them down in the parking lot. Boxed leftovers were sacred.

Anyway, we have ample research on how living under a state of sustained terror and stress causes life-long health problems as well as intergenerational epigenetic effects. This feels like it's making you sick because it actually is making you sick.

Whadya know? My appetite suddenly came back. Amazing what can happen when you’re not in fight or flight mode. (don’t worry, fight mode will return very soon)
