Well, if it’s 6 October, it’s the 83rd anniversary of the day the world was deprived of Ignatius Trebitsch-Lincoln, who was born a Hungarian Jew, elected to the House of Commons, spied for Germany in both world wars, and eventually declared himself the 14th Dalai Lama

Frontispiece from Lincoln’s 1916 book Revelations of an International Spy, showing a man in a suit and bow tie, holding papers, wearing a moustache, and looking at camera through small round glasses

I've been loving running on the rail trail this summer and I'm dreading going back to the treadmill. I used to run on the road in the winter in my early 40s but yuck. I'm noticing a trend in my own life, don't know if others see anything similar. It's about how we relate to tech. Im of an age where I had an Apple II, eventually the first Mac, always learned to troubleshoot PCs, etc. I was always the non-professional "tech person".

As honoured as I am to see that The Times has picked up my Chagos article practically *word for word*, including my hard-gotten quotes, I’d prefer some credit — or for everyone to read my original FT piece! free link to read the evidently enviable article below (cheaper than a Times sub!) 🌴
