Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
the CBC-vs-Sanders fight has been there since at least 2020 but is really spilling into the open now.

Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.

This is such an great feature (Rebecca is great!), and I've been thinking about it for a few days. IMO, "Influencer" in the ten-years-ago sense was really a LOT of jobs (spokesmodel/copywriter/etc.) but now it's morphing, at least in part, into "intentionally annoying person" which feels worse.
The Influencer Recession
Once upon a time, lifestyle influencers could post cute photos and make millions. Now they are forced to pivot.

again the average customer for shein is an upper middle class woman who wants to buy trendy clothes
Since people are still relentlessly abusing me over this, here’s why the so-called “boots theory” doesn’t make any sense. First, what is it? Some people have suggested I haven’t done the background reading, but it’s not a deep idea. It’s from a passage that’s four sentences long.
It has, and there is some evidence that, at least in its early years, it was causing ~500 *more* American travel deaths a year.
Excess Automobile Deaths as a Result of 9/11 - Schneier on Security
People commented about a point I made in a recent essay: In the months after 9/11, so many people chose to drive instead of fly that the resulting deaths dwarfed the deaths from the terrorist attack i...

remember the “Trump getting fairly dogshit primary results in 2024” pointed to *something* that didn’t happen
regardless of which candidate you support I really hate this bit where pundits pretend being electable in a primary makes you electable in the general election just ask senators Hershel Walker, Blake Masters, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, and Sharron Angle how that worked out for them
Hey guys, Perez Hilton performed self-harm and may have attempted a suicide on TikTok and screenshots are flying around, so if you are sensitive, go put "Perez Hilton" in your mutes right now.
Fortunately, as we all know, Missouri is a bunch of tax and spend liberals:
ATTENTION TO ALL DEM TAX CUT SLOPULISTS
Air travel has gotten dramatically cheaper That means more people can do it You can still buy first class tickets if you want them
So this is basically one of the entry points to becoming a reactionary
I’m gonna be so for real if I can for a minute: I don’t really give a shit who wins the Michigan Senate primary at this point because I live in New Jersey
Josh Gottheimer has smashed every competitive primary for this congressional district, but I know nobody would make the same argument about him

Fyi: Dad is okay. They are keeping him overnight, based on my conversations with the doctors it seems very precautionary, they said they’re probably gonna discharge him tomorrow depending on how the tests come back. He feels fine, frankly he’s just bored (lot of sitting around with nothing to read)

Two more GOP amendments go down to crushing defeats, both in MO. #4 would have made future ballot initiatives impossible to pass by requiring winning a majority statewide *and* in each congressional district. #5 would have eliminated the state income tax.
Also like, yes, air travel is less "luxurious" than it was decades ago, but also now you can get to far flung parts of the world often for just a few hundred dollars. Guess what most ppl actually prefer?
