The underlying post here is basically saying "the democrats should spend a huge amount of political capital, and literal taxpayer capital, rebuilding the military capability of the United States so that the next Republican can use it to destabilize the world again" and like, no? Why would we do that

Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true: even a lifetime of striving doesn’t offer a realistic prospect of feeling you’ve “made it”.

All conduct aside, I feel as though if your point is to ask "are city-run grocery stores the most optimal policy solution for low-income food scarcity? Are there policies that are more effective at helping the poor?", you would just ask that as opposed to asking if "[it]'s a good idea", no?
