Republicans believe vaccines cause autism, Trump won the 2020 election, Michelle Obama is a man, and ivermectin can cure Covid. Democrats need to accept at least some of these or give up the charade of bipartisanship.

Agree with this, and in general that this period was one in which there were mostly only choices between bad options. I am afraid that the collective desire for broad and simple solutions will mean the wrong lessons are drawn from this.

🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12

Uefa: No UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership.

I think I'm probably a bit late to this, but I've recently noticed that a new conspiracy theory is getting a lot of traction. Apparently, for decades now Britain has been secretly (but also 'shockingly, in plain sight'!) controlled by ... 🥁🥁🥁 ... the Fabian Society 🤣🤣🤣

Very sad to hear this. Not possible to do a PhD there now both because of visa issues, and the fact that they've killed science funding. (And of course, would be put off by the risk of being swept up in an ICE raid or charged for saying something disagreeable to the administration.)

The US built the greatest talent magnet ever, attracting the smart, skilled, and striving. They’d come to study, then stay and build things here, or leave with positive impressions and fruitful connections. Helped make the US wealthy and powerful. Then America chose to throw it away. And for what?
