Medicare For ALL Single-payer universal health care system could cover every American, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1.04 trillion or 20% less than system it would replace, according to new preprint study led by researchers at Yale School of Public Health. go.bsky.app/kHQhsS

Mark Carney: "Canada has learned the lessons of history. We know that Putin should never be trusted. Every indiscriminate attack, every strike against a hospital, a shopping mall or a residential building, every order given to abduct children bears his signature." #cdnpoli

Last week, Smith posted on social media that “For every $1 of taxes a guest worker generates, taxpayers are covering $10 in services.” While this figure might ring true for many, it is far from accurate. I fact-checked Smith’s claims in my latest for @thetyee.ca

Does Alberta Provide $10 in Services for Every $1 of ‘Guest Worker’ Taxes? | The Tyee

Ahead of a divisive referendum question, we fact checked Danielle Smith’s claims.

New lows seemingly hourly now from Bruce McAllister. He seems to be attempting to intimidate and silence credible critics of the UCP's overtly anti-immigrant referendum questions by engaging in demeaning and disrespectful attacks. It's Trumpian thug politics.

Disappointed but not surprised to see Duane waddling in here. It’s an easy one for him - cherry pick the ugliest possible reading of an issue and huff and puff some laurentian talking points as if he just discovered them. He’s entitled to his opinion, of course, but labelling these referendum questions “anti-immigrant” is lazy even by his standards.
Albertans have every right to weigh in on whether we want more control over the numbers, economic migrants first, and a wait before temporary residents tap the same health, education and social programs as citizens and permanent residents. You know, the generations of people who have built the province, and yes, the many respectful, hardworking, and thoughtful immigrants who came here the right way - before his idol Justin opened the borders to mass uncontrolled immigration. That’s not hate. That’s how you keep a welfare state from buckling.
If the big bad professor doesn’t support them, he’s free to say so. But calling them “anti-immigrant”? Sorry big guy - that’s not analysis. That’s just the slogan you brought from the rally.

Bruce McAllister is a senior advisor to Alberta's premier. He hosted the anti-immigrant Alberta Next Panels. He attacked Senator Paula Simons for calling out the racist referendum questions. Now he's openly supporting an extremist white nationalist party's racist anti-immigration policy.

Bruce McAllister: Finally someone on a major stage saying it out loud instead of hiding behind slogans. Shout it from the rooftops please Alice!
You can’t run a welfare state, bring in millions who need support, and keep energy prices this high without the books blowing up. It’s also tearing up the social fabric and native culture. People are waking up. Now watch the mainstream media ignore all of it - while twisting themselves into pretzels labelling her alt-right anyway.

What a POS #Trump is. At the rate he's going in the world, there are several countries that would redraw the U.S. map with a big Cancel stamp. Who could have imagined an American President so despicable, corrupt and ignorant?! No honour or integrity. Big Yuck. people.com/trump-shares...
