Bandits of the Marsh/Water Margin is very weird, as books go. The author will spend a page and a half describing the exact way two strangers use ritual greetings, what (totally normal) food they ate, how drunk they got. But the violent takeover of a bandit fortress gets three lines.

Forgive me for getting a little heady, for a moment. The best way to tell an SF/Fantasy story is not to start at the moment the world's magic/science status quo is disrupted. The status quo should already have been disrupted before the story begins, but most people don't know it yet.

I am so proud of my girlfriend. She made a solodev indiegame for the last 3 years and it just released. It would mean the world to me if you could show her some love and appreciation and share her game!

I want to write a Harry Chapin-style folk song about a game dev who gets into the AAA industry at 20, and spends his whole career working on games that get canceled. After retirement, he sits in a porch-swing, struggling to explain this to his grandchildren.
