The country needs electoral reform – and Labour has the chance to be on the right side of this argument
First-past-the-post is failing. Representatives are being elected on 20 per cent of the vote and less. That is not a democratic mandate.

Nigel Farage took £5 million from a crypto billionaire. He kept it secret. Then he spent twenty minutes on camera telling you how hard his life is.
Following the newspaper reports over the weekend in to Farage, yesterday I welcomed the review by Sir Philip Rycroft before asking what protections will be put in place to stop individuals with serious convictions or histories of financial crime from funnelling millions of pounds into our democracy.
“Things change in this country when ordinary people say 'we demand change'. This is one of the issues that is starting to feel louder and louder at the moment. I think there is that level of consensus that we can't carry on with the system we currently have.” 🗨️ Angela Rayner on LBC this morning

Kemi Badenoch on Sky News repeatedly referring to Andy Burnham "having a summer holiday". Unclear what on Earth she's talking about
🧵1/ Kemi Badenoch’s characterisation of Bridget Phillipson as having “acted like a Gestapo officer” over private school VAT fees are contemptible, unbecoming of any parliamentarian and demonstrate - yet again - that Badenoch is completely unfit for public office.
