An honour to finally be able to stand up and launch The Practical Guide to Teaching History to the history teaching community at #SHP25! Thank you to @joshpreyegarry.bsky.social and @mrmayhew.bsky.social Thank you to Matt Stanford and @corinnegoullee.bsky.social for getting us to this place

The use of a puzzling, intriguing, scholarship-driven enquiry question is so central to my teaching. This masterclass will be brilliant!

Really excited to deliver this FREE session with @egcarr.bsky.social We’ll discuss the power of enquiry questions, including how they shape the analytic direction and purpose of a sequence of lessons, create a sense of intrigue & infuse lessons with energy! @counsellc.bsky.social

How does an enquiry question sustain interest, build momentum and give all pupils access to disciplinary thinking across a lesson sequence? How does the EQ help you to integrate compelling stories and rich, extended text? Register bit.ly/4nrA8Mv for Cat and Elizabeth's webinar on Tues 8 July 3.30pm

And here it is. Finally. Surrounded by some of the scholarship that shaped it. It’s beautiful and such fun to teach - it has given my Year 8 class stories to live inside. A parent messaged me to say history has ‘never been so fun!’ - all I did was tell the class stories from this book.

So happy that the scholarship of Ruby Lal, Emma Griffin, James Boyce, Vincent Brown and others will shine in this textbook - it was such a pleasure and privilege to work with historians, & the integration of images and text is spellbinding. We’ve gone to press for #ChangingHistoriesKS3 Expanding Worlds! It’ll be hitting our warehouse on 13 June so do get your orders in! In my 10+ years of history publishing, I honestly think this is one of the best books we’ve produced. Spell-binding narrative, stunning visuals and super accessible.

Thank you to everyone who came to our second Ark Soane History conference yesterday. It was such a joy to see so many history teacher colleagues together. As always, I’m proudest of our pupils who were so keen to help and talk about history. What a lovely day. #Soane25

This story of mahogany is one of the most thought-provoking and illuminating approaches to teaching the transatlantic slave trade I've ever come across. @hannahcusworth.bsky.social has blended her original research into a mesmerising story for Y8, evoking contrasting but connected worlds #Soane25

Fab workshop from @hannahcusworth.bsky.social on teaching the transatlantic slave trade via the story of mahogany. So interesting. #Soane25
