Brewers playing like a team that needs a break. Unfortunately they don’t get a day off for two more weeks!
Murph just yanked Sproat mid AB after two straight wild pitches. Don’t think he was hurt, think Murph had just had enough.
Giving up Frias hurts but my positive takeaway: I wouldn’t predict it but it wouldn’t shock me if between now and the end of the season Dustin May ends up being the second-best pitcher traded at the deadline. Says more about the market than May, but still a plus.
Trying not to freak out about trading an 18 y/o but FanGraphs has Frias as the #43 overall prospect... higher than Zyhir Hope, who headlined the Skubal trade.
Respectfully, Molly (and I mean that, I like your work): It sounds like the Brewers were willing to deal Luis Peña but would not include Logan Henderson. Henderson is the second or third best starting pitcher on the Brewers right now.

I don’t really mind that the Brewers didn’t trade for Skubal - Peña/Henderson/Letson would’ve felt like too much and that’s probably what it would’ve been. What I hate is people acting like the Dodgers getting him is the Brewers’ fault. The smallest market team that’s made playoffs in 8 of 9 years.
The worst part of every time the Dodgers corner the market is knowing the wave of scolding every damn time. We have to hear how aCtUaLy every team can do this, insulting all of our intelligence. They already get everything, just let people dislike it!
Yay the Brewers have the best record in baseball, a truly feel-good night for the little guy in Major League Baseball.

All trades, of course, could be precursors to other moves, whether intentionally or not. But you'll never get me to buy the idea that a trade announced in its entirety only happened because another one is already in the works. There might be intent or expectation, but nothing concrete.
I have a lot of questions. Yoho is better than Heuer and Naylor is so bad offensively that Perkins makes him look good. Has to be something else right?
Curt Hogg@cyrthogg.bsky.social · 4d agoThe Brewers are trading Craig Yoho to Cleveland and acquiring Bo Naylor. Other pieces may be involved, per source. Naylor's arrival all signals Brewers would consider moving Gary Sanchez for MLB-ready help.
The Brewers have two reliable relievers. Keep in mind over the next week.
Joey Ortiz is now leading all MLB third basemen in OAA despite having played there in only 28 games. He really is one of the best defensive 3B I've ever seen, I think. (yes, this is broken down by position--Ortiz is +11 OAA overall, +4 at SS and +7 at 3B)

I feel like one of the lessons of the Brewers being good is that you need as many usable SP as possible if you want to get through a whole season. The Red Sox in the last 15 months have traded Quinn Priester, Kyle Harrison, Shane Drohan, and Connelly Early for position players.
I get that this is a difficult exercise, but would any of the teams that have Witt, PCA, McGonigle, Griffin actually trade their guy for Shohei? It's partially a situation of "win now" versus not, but in a vacuum... wouldn't you rather have those guys than 32-year-old, owed half a billion Shohei?

It’s funny that the “Motre Bame” hat is being used for the Hall of Fame weekend because I think that’s the only era of Brewers history in which a Hall of Famer didn’t have at least a brief stop on the team. Yount retired in ‘93, these hats started in ‘94. Next Hall of Famer was CC, right?
