Left-leaning (but not loony left), pragmatic not dogmatic, realist, atheist cis male gay. Green Party member. Vocal trans supporter. Insta-blocks bigots and never argues with idiots for more than a few messages. Mutes threads and blocks people.

Government inefficiency really irritates me. Got a letter this morning saying I'll get the Winter Fuel Allowance. It said it was an automatic process and would be clawed back later if I didn't qualify. Stupid system can't look at last year's tax figures and decide for itself just to not send it?!

Are the media making a fuss about this LearJet crash which killed 9 people heading to the Bahamas because they're likely to have been "their sort" of people rather than mere plebs like us?

Totally agree. I run a fairly tight blocking regime on my tablet here. At app, system and browser level. It has, for example, blocked one hundred and thirty six THOUSAND app tracking attempts. In SEVEN DAYS. What the hell are they doing to need all that information?

No, I don't want to download your app, create an account, set a password, confirm I'm human by guessing at some random squares, give you various bits of personal information including my email so you spam my inbox, just to read something on your website. Just no.

If people genuinely wanted to protest the Israeli genocide then they would forget all mention of Palestine Fucking Action. They are a distraction, a diversion and just play into the media's agenda. Focus on what's important. PA are not only unimportant, they're making things worse.

"Don't use GDP", someone said, "because that has non-taxable dark money". So: Welfare spending as a % of govt. tax receipts: 1995 (1995-96): ~30%. 2000 (2000-01): ~25%. 2005 (2005-06): ~28%. 2010 (2010-11): ~34%. 2015 (2015-16): ~31%. 2020 (2019-20): ~29%. 2025 (2025-26): ~27% Same pattern.

“welfare is rising out of control!” – screams the right wing press. “welfare” spending in the UK (as a percentage of GDP) 1985 – 11.5% 1995 – 12.2% 2005 – 10.8% 2015 – 11.3% 2025 – 10.9% So, why all the fuss?
