I didn't ask to be a pangolin. Don't eat me. Accept the material, grasp the dialectic, and witness the unfathomable beauty of objective reality, as awful as it may be.
My greatest fear about AI is that it's an authoritarian dream come true. The more we trust it completely the easier it becomes to replace our conception of truth. Grokipedia pushing genetics like this is a clumsy sneak preview.
So genetics-and-nationality are being propagated by AI to some degree. But what about an AI-generated encyclopedia, like Elon Musk's Grokipedia? We found it mentions genetics more often than Wikipedia in nationalities, but the case study pages are especially egregious (next post).
How does human genetics research live in the information ecosystem? Is it misused? Misrepresented? In my paper with @sramach.bsky.social, we tackle this question with 25 years of Wikipedia data, AI chatbot responses, and pages from Grokipedia www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
From Wikipedia to AI: Measuring 25 years of synthesis of human genetics research in the public-facing information ecosystem
Genetics research frequently intersects with ethnicity, nationality, and race, making it uniquely vulnerable to misrepresentation. Yet, 25 years after the initial sequencing of the human genome, there...

And for Canadians across this land, it is a kick in the teeth to call this climate bomb of a project “in the national interest”. It is in Big Oil’s interest for sure.
That said, let us take a moment to thank our Bluesky Trans and Furry Elders for freaking out Jack Dorsey so much he bolted and left us this nice social media playground, taking most of his crypto chuds with him. We thank you for your service.
christ if that’s not a metaphor for our times
I love how everybody has their own personal, on demand Audrey 2 now
All I'm saying is that in the agile era the tech industry at least wanted you to think they weren't evil, in the react era they robbed us blind, and in the AI era they are actively murdering us. Scrum not looking so bad now eh?
My favourite thing about @bsky.app , whose primary purpose is to display text, is that it frequently fails to display the text.
This is horrific but also, I'm sorry? Dr. Israel? The guy who made the collars to shock children for their entire lives is named Dr. Israel. I know for sure we don't live in a fictional universe because the writing wouldn't be this bad.
May 13, 2025 archive.ph/51elB Today, Dr. Israel’s shock devices are approved for use on 55 autistic adults living at the center. Some have worn the equipment for decades. Some people started receiving shocks as children, though the device is now approved for use only on adults.

you could have just listened to the communists several months ago
Canada (the nation of kind, friendly people and stunning wilderness) rocks. Canada (the genocidal state that is letting 25% of people starve and just committed to worsening the climate crisis) can get bent. Hooray/Fuck Canada!
Never thought I'd say this but I actually appreciate spelling/grammar errors and awkward phrasing now because it's a sign that the text was written by a human.
Oh a blue tick lib thinks segregating trans people and locking up pensioners as terrorists while banning social media and VPNs and doing a genocide are just minor little bumps in the smart and sensible rational adult road, quelle surprise
I'm attending a digital humanities event in Montreal. There was a keynote on AI and something about the talk made me wonder if it had been written by Claude. I said as much in the Q&A. As I posed the question, the speaker shifted, looking slightly uncomfortable. What he said next shocked the room +
There might not be ROI on the balance sheet but what's the value of convincing an entire population to surrender total trust to an information system that is under control of people who have direct interest in controlling your thoughts and ideas? I suspect they consider it priceless.
“It’s no longer AI replacing employees, it’s actually AI, one, could cost far more than an employee, and two, we have yet to drive to that concrete business ROI yet.” - AvePoint ($AVPT) CEO Tianyi Jiang thetranscript.substack.com/p/06-15-2026...
People like Trump, aka. capitalists, are precisely, BY DEFINITION, the people who literally don't create *anything*. They live entirely off the profit generated by *other people's labour*. It is the WORKERS who build *everything*, while capitalists just sit around, bark orders, and collect the $$$.
i bet you a bajillion dollars that if it was a hammer and sickle tattoo instead of a totenkopf the dem party would have already endorsed susan collins
No one wants to hear this but communism is the only answer to rising global authoritarianism. Everything else, yes including democratic socialism, is just stopgap, a dam that capitalism works day and night to route around. The only solution is to end the incentivizing system. End capitalism.

"creating work-shaped demos, which is all you need to grift an executive" Anyone who has worked in a Big Company™ knows how depressingly true this is.
The AI bubble is only possible in an economy run by Business Idiots - executives entirely removed from the work that makes them rich. They think AI is amazing because LLMs are great at creating work-shaped demos, which is all you need to grift an executive. www.wheresyoured.at/ai-is-too-expensive/
Can't wait for RFK Jr to tell everyone that babies who are disabled by fetal alcohol poisoning were weak anyway and a great source of protein actually.

I have 3 pieces of ID therefore I am.
My partner was just asked for triple verification at the bank. Offical government ID alone wasn't cutting it. We're in a new and frigentening era where only through corporate proof that we exist that we can prove who we are.
