Yes, you need to drink water, lots when it's hot. Don't wash out your extracellular sodium stores. Keep a bag of salted chips, peanuts, anything salty handy. Low sodium can kill instantly, high sodium more slowly. Same with glucose. Sports drinks are your friends.

My English gf HC Dodgson was a 2nd Lt with 20th Hussars after being in cadet corps at Rugby School. They landed in France in August 1914 and galloped off to find Germans to shoot. Gf was on active duty until Armistice in 1918; astonishing he survived when 9 1st cousins were kia.
