#ResistanceRoots Mary Ritter Beard was born on this day in 1876 in Indianapolis, Ind. She was a historian, author, and labor and women’s rights activist who challenged traditional narratives about women. Her contributions were largely erased until rediscovered by a new generation of feminists. /1

Mary Ritter Beard, ca. 1915. Mainstream feminists of her day used the narrative of historic subjection to fight for current rights. Beard argued this approach was bad history that erased women’s actual past achievements and power as vital forces in shaping human civilization. She also argued that women should not merely strive to equal men, as men’s historical focus on warfare and political dominance was fundamentally flawed. Photo credit: Library of Congress.

1% of the country owns more wealth than the middle class. Why? Because Washington spent decades fighting for the rich instead of working families, and Trump has taken it to a new level. November is our chance to elect leaders who actually give a shit about working people.

It's a fallacy to think that the Trump regime is pro-military. it's pro-violence and pro-stealing-from-foreign-countries, but it's anti-military-families. As Trump has demonstrated, he thinks soldiers are "suckers" and "losers."

AP Exclusive: Trump's immigration crackdown has detained more than 50 military spouses and parents

An Associated Press investigation reveals that President Donald Trump’s administration has detained dozens of parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. troops.

My column on how capital becomes a death cult. Faced with a choice between profit and human life, the radical right chooses profit. Then it tries to persuade us that mass death is what we want. It's the new phase of climate denial: accept your fate, earthlings. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Murderous heat, an endangered food supply, decimated landscapes: embrace the Mediterranean life | George Monbiot

As climate disaster stares us in the face, the radical right says ‘Embrace the Mediterranean life’. Embrace death, more like it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I, an ordinary person, also have a two year old daughter. If I broke her collarbone, I would fully expect to go to jail. I would not expect it to be resolved "on a family level".

Dear @hyundaiusa.com, If you ever so much as *suggest* that you'll put ads in MY car or Hyundais generally, I'll sell the thing so %$#@ fast the ink will still be wet on my signature on the title when the new owner registers it. NEVER dump on me with ads. #BMW, *you* are an undesirable brand.

EV advocacy world really needs to contend with the fact that car companies are hell bent on making them into the most exhausting, enshittified, advertising-infected subscription model oversized junk tanks imaginable www.techspot.com/news/113327-...

Q: You’ve been Republicans for most of your voting lives. Who’s voting for James Talarico? Republican moms: *all raise their hands* “I like him. I want a middle school teacher who’s like, hey, this is broken. Somebody needs to fix it. Why not me?”

Trump's 'action' on this issue is worth nothing. And, he's made power MORE expensive by forcing utilities to keep running inefficient/dirty coal plants, while doing everything he can to stop inexpensive renewables.

This is a distraction and a political stunt ahead of the midterms. If the ratepayer protection is to happen at all, it won't be from the White House but rather from FERC and state PUCs: www.eenews.net/articles/tru...

RFK Jr was one of the antivax "Disinformation Dozen" during the pandemic. He was named as such in a 2021 Center for Countering Digital Hate report, alongside figures like Joseph Mercola. Together they produced about 65% of anti-vax posts on major social media - and sold snake oil instead.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
