Also, I've been posting videos on farm worker problems for over a year. I've seen the stats on what people click on. A LOT of people would rather click on yet another puff piece about Ballerina Farm than hear about farm workers.

It's true. Our local county election board always needs poll workers (because most are QUITE old and no one lives forever). You get to meet some of the most public-spirited and upstanding folks in your community AND do something very practical to protect democracy.

Facts! There's nothing that stops the doomscrolling dead in its tracks like "Go out & do something very direct & hands-on about the problem." And they'll pay πŸ‘ you πŸ‘ to πŸ‘ do πŸ‘ it! powerthepolls.org/creator-sara...

The American Dream has become an American Nightmare. It’s too expensive to buy a home. It’s too expensive to get married and have kids. It’s too expensive to retire comfortably. The top 1% put the American Dream behind a paywall.

And if Bill Gates being a "real farmer" makes us feel icky, maybe it's a good time to unpack why we still think- in a country that we all know was founded on kidnapping people to work on farms, both big & small- that "farmer" can only be a title of honor.

Yep. As a small farmer & big believer in conservation: lots of "farm conservation easements" are, unfortunately, scams that kneecap agriculture. Not help it. It's the same hustle as farm subsidies. "Let's throw free money at landowners. So they don't have to treat farming like a real job."

One of my hottest takes β€” it makes sense for public policy to preserve nature as a priority but farms aren’t nature! www.slowboring.com/p/farms-aren...
