Bike and ped scramble phases already work so dang well at so many Camberville intersections, we just need to legalize them.
The #allWayWalk / bike phase allows people to cross in all directions, each time the cars are stopped. Bikes are not cars 🤯 so it's easy to look, nod, turn, slow, or speed up slightly, and there are no blind spots created by large vehicles, except maybe #cargoBikes 😉 #Groningen
Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents
This is clearly not acceptable
I personally agree with every single position on the nine ballot questions (including being of unsure which way i'll go on 6)
MA has a historic number of ballot questions. Here's a handy guide for the 9 statewide ballot questions this year.
One more reason DC needs statehood ASAP.
This is clearly not acceptable
goddang the vibes are bad in dc
On Nov. 7, the beloved Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant will open their doors to patrons for the last time. “Some restaurants are more than just a place to eat,” one customer wrote. “They become part of the fabric of a city. Dukem will never be forgotten.” 51st.news/dukem-ethiop...
Why did NC, SD & NE perform so much better reducing emissions than CA, WA & CT? Because they are less likely to build highways they can’t afford to maintain. In other words, fiscal responsibility might be better for the climate than a climate champion. bethosbornesga.substack.com/p/progressiv...
Progressives don't necessarily deliver progressive transportation policy, state edition
Supporters of things like transit, Complete Streets, climate, etc. speak hopefully about the support they will get from progressives. This is overly simplistic and naive, and I want to talk about it.

Not to get too wonky here, but anyone w Fed acquisition experience should read and roll your eyes at their J&A. -asserting, not demonstrating, lack of other available sources -urgency not a justification under 'only one responsible source' where are the PCOs who take their warrants seriously?
The FBI wants to hire the Ultimate Fighting Championship to train its special agents under a one-year deal that would bypass the competitive bidding process typically used for federal contracts, according to federal records.
As a Cat3 hurricane bears down on the Florida panhandle, it's worth noting that states like GA, FL, AL, & MS, have the highest numbers of Nat'l Guard troops in DC (needlessly & unjustifiably). Seems like they're actually needed at home, not here. #FREEDC #DCStatehood www.npr.org/2026/08/11/n...
Armed troops have patrolled D.C. for 1 year now. It's challenging democratic norms
The deployment is expected to cost in the billions after it was quietly extended until Inauguration Day of 2029.

i said it before, i'll say it again -- "bike+" is the best nomenclature for the range of devices that travel the lanes and trails that we advocate for.
The majority of Minnesotans ride bikes. The majority of Minnesotans also say they'd bike more if there was better and safer infrastructure to do so. @mndot.mn.gov's update to the Statewide Bicycle+ System Plan is good, but does it go far enough? It wasn't just that. It was a deliberate effort to undercut moves by Black Americans into the white collar middle class.
it wasn't just that. it was a deliberate effort to kill people in the developing world, because the republicans and their tech buddies are a bunch of paranoid schizophrenics and eugenicists
i'm mapping out topics for my newsletter, and a solid 75% of them are either contrarian and will get me excommunicated from here in particular, or hopelessly wonky and niche. I'd really like to um get actual readers. Any positive active transpo topics that folks have been yearning to be addressed?
I want subway extensions. Mattapan, Arlington, Chelsea, etc. plus real regional rail. But we can’t finance them, or build them efficiently. We need to fix the systemic problems. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/10/09/m...
A changed Arlington reconsiders the Red Line - The Boston Globe
The town has changed a lot over the last half-century. So much that many wish the subway could run there after all.

“While we are heartened by these positive and tangible first steps," the [Gag] family wrote, "the City of Boston must act with more urgency moving forward — both in their rapid response to serious and fatal crashes and in their commitment to advance projects designed to make streets safer….”
City leaders announced Friday that the intersection of Tremont and Parker Streets will see a “number of street upgrades,” including a bike lane that will be separated from traffic by parked cars. The city will also paint new white lines at nearby intersections.
I sit on the blurry line between practice and advocacy, but even I know that the Inside-Outside dichotomy is a fundamental of successful advocacy.
Cycling activists would get a ton more public support if they avoided framing debates over things like bike lanes like this. Emphasize SAFETY, yes. Bike lanes make cities better. They can even make DRIVING better, by reducing congestion. Invoking 'violence' in ways most people won't buy isn't it.

Absolutely fuckin' hysterical that this dumbass @bostonglobe.com puff piece arrived alongside this news. Great job, guys, you're really earning my monthly $.
“If you don’t like public executions just don’t watch it” says the crowd trying to ban drag shows and books
First time at bow market, I’m sure there’s a way I’m supposed to think about it?
The American white collar workforce started working from home three days a week for like six months a year into COVID and executives so thoroughly lost their minds over this that they installed Trump II. If anything, AI will create the 7-day workweek.
Man who won’t give his employees piss breaks claims many piss breaks on the horizon
A Black woman I worked with who took the DRP specifically called it “harm reduction,” and that’s exactly what it was. Civil rights offices were gutted, DEI targeted, RIFs threatened, AI looming… the whole damn thing was engineered to have a disparate impact.
A University of Maryland study found DOGE cut Black women's federal employment by 25 percent, with no significant effect on any other group. Darnese Foster, a single mom fired from HHS, has applied to over 100 jobs since. Musk and Fuckface called this efficiency.
Really really great deep dive into citibike, allowing me to grind my axes: Can we now all agree that the original program design was flawed? -fully private concessionaire management -breakeven requirement -station density=“equity” Stark contrast to London/TfL (and CaBi of course)
A new deep dive from me: Mayor Mamdani will face an uphill battle to make Citi Bike any cheaper, as its operator Lyft has consolidated a lot of leverage and could end up dictating the terms in its upcoming contract renewal. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/10/08/t...
