I’d like to make it clear for all the people following me what the sheer gravity of the news is. Without this facility we can’t ensure constant communication with spacecraft beyond Earth orbit. If this facility is off-line, the Artemis program cannot send a crew to the Moon.

My team is recruiting a MSc student for a new grant investigating forested wetland responses to Hurricane Helene. The student will lead a GIS project mapping disturbance type and severity in the ETSU Geosciences dept. The catch: they would need to start this fall semester (about a month from now).

I love interviewing botanists. Whenever you come across an Echinocactus in the field, they all make the exact same joke, and you end up with transcripts that look like this. <nerd joke alert> 🤦‍♀️🌵

A timestamped transcript of five different people all saying "A kind of cactus." This is a nerdy pun on the genus name "Echinocactus."

We will soon be advertising a 3-year postdoctoral position at Bristol aimed at enhancing our modelling capacity to better characterise vegetation recovery & legacy effects following fire. Please keep us in mind if this is your speciality 😀 🔥🌳 🌱
