Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

There are a bunch of quote posts to this pointing out the obvious that this is literally what taxes are supposed to do but tbh the United States has been throttling its own infrastructure in the interests of a handful of rich freaks for so long that I can't blame them for forgetting
