great to see anne carson get the nobel but we should not overlook other deserving masters of their craft, such as the writers of S4E7 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, "Who Pooped the Bed?"
jon ossoff's greatest asset as a politician is that he's a natural-born hot bitch
as a foreigner employed by one of these universities who also has an open/pending immigration case i think this is very chill and cool.
Vance: "Some of America's most elite universities bring in foreigners to undercut wages of American residents. There are 9 universities in particular we believe merit an investigation. Those are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, the University of Pittsburg, UC Davis, Cal Tech, Arizona State, and MIT."
you're not gonna have a better night than taking the big gummy and watching old nigella bites episodes in bed i tell you what
Howdy! Alberta separatists + American Republicans. Read all about it. --> www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic... By Nathan VanderKlippe, Grant Robertson, and friend.
The elephant in the room
Alberta separatists have gone to D.C. offering fresh water and oil in exchange for American support – and Republican operatives have provided tactical assistance inside the province

Andrea's partner just posted a fuller update via her Instagram so I've just learned of her passing. This is really heartbreaking, she was one of the kindest and most wonderful people, and a big part of the music journalism scene here in Vancouver, and across Canada. This is a big loss 💔
Polaris recently learned of the passing of former juror Andrea Warner after a lengthy illness. Andrea was the author of multiple influential music books, and served on the 2013 Polaris Grand Jury. Our deepest condolences to Andrea's family, friends and anyone who was touched by her work.
the only way i can make even a little bit of sense of contemporary conservatism is to assume that every last one of them has some nuclear-grade, desperately unslakable humiliation kink.
Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre just shared this on his Instagram
i can feel myself radicalizing against bluetooth speakers in real time
It's your stupid president's constant threats to our sovereignty and attacks on our country that did this, not our decision to respond to them. www.latimes.com/business/sto...
Canada's boycott forces the sale of a California winery

two thoughts: great job democrats letting elon musk potentially influence more of our media ecosystem! and two: damn ellison still doesn't have the money lined up....??
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE will own 49% of all these assets. Ellison is now involving the little Nazi Musk in the complex co-ownership of all content that Americans will consume on TV, in cinemas, and on the Internet. What a wonderful world.
Big news! In the latest Berkeley/LA Times poll, we’ve surged ahead of Mayor Bass with an 11 point lead. This poll reflects the momentum we’re seeing on the ground. Angelenos are ready for change and want to see a City That Works.
Welp. According to Semafor, David Ellison has discussed bringing Elon Musk on as an investor in Paramount's merger with Warner Bros., which could mean Musk could have a stake in CBS News and CNN. www.semafor.com/article/09/2...
Exclusive: Paramount weighs tapping Musk for equity investment
A cash injection from SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk could reduce investor Larry Ellison’s financial burden and bolster the deal’s investor base.

you could make a lot of this mania vanish by making college free. the worst parents think they're working a new market inefficiency by making their kid out-hustle the "lazy" kids. but even chill parents are holding a psychological lotto ticket that their kid puts up numbers that end in scholarships
Idea: Maybe we shouldn't be treating 7th grade girls volleyball like the Thunderdome? It's not just bad for the parents (who hate each other due to playing time) and culture (watch ESPN for ten seconds), it burns out the kids and makes them worse adults AND athletes. Sports are supposed to be fun!
Did Bonta get ANYTHING from Ellison? Because the 30-films-a-year deal that is being reported has been promised for months, and the "editorial board" overseeing CBS and CNN means nothing without teeth. To me it sounds like Ellison threatened to move Paramount out of CA, and Bonta and Newsom folded.
why any dem politician would ever let the ellisons control another entertainment conglomerate after what they've done in one year to paramount and to tiktok (oracle hosts tiktok's data and controls the algorithm) is absolutely beyond me
BREAKING: Paramount has reached a settlement with California and other states suing to block its acquisition of Warner Bros, per Bloomberg. The settlement comes after California AG Rob Bonta caved and stopped trying to block the merger. The final four holdout states have now conceded as well.
my very gently spicy take is that if you find yourself being like omg the gay bubble is so real because idk shit about anything outside these dozen-or-so pop girls, you should make a conscious and sustained effort to listen more broadly! it's very easy!

obsessed with the genre of (gay guy) insta video that's like 'i spend 100% of my time lifting and taking/promoting dangerously unregulated supplements and making weird, blamey, incelly front-facing camera videos about how insane it is that i'm still single and miraculously i'm STILL single'
there is so much music out today and i want to listen to it all right friggin now and it's stressing me OWT.
