Reading /writing a book review on a title that is EXTREMELY my shit, archivally rich, but also definitely dry as hell for most. Probably the most difficult type of book review to write for me.
So happy to finally share the news that my book, “A History of Uncertainty: Science between the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe,” will be out in Spring 2027 by the University of Pittsburgh Press. I still can't believe it's now beyond my hands and on its way to meeting its readers.
Squished in the middle of this story was this heartbreaking paragraph. Unconscionable.

Nothing has made my teenager a more vehement southerner than being at a summer program with a bunch of wealthy kids from the NE who treat her like some sort of exotica
I hope the college students who protested the US-funded massacre of Palestinian civilians, while being vilified by their universities and politicians and even the president, understand that they are actually having an impact, just much slower than they hoped
