So many sneering elitist journalists with snarky posts over the past months that the Reflecting Pool story was trivial. It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.
Covid was a cognitive test for the president and Trump failed it spectacularly. The worst performances of any country - 4% of the world’s population, 25% of the deaths during 2020. Good of Republicans to remind us.
This is so on point! So easy to forget refrigerated trucks lined up as makeshift morgues, building dozens of makeshift hospitals to take a flood of COVID patients... doctors and nurses intubating patients and contriving techniques to rotate them in their beds to keep them alive... Incredible!

After today's shameful display of medical McCarthyism, imagine the next pandemic. Imagine that world's foremost expert on infectious diseases considering jumping in to help millions of people. We are in a deeply dark and disturbing place for the future of science. And for the future, period.
