These people had protected status. They lived here legally. They worked, they paid taxes. They made lives. Raised families. Now we’ve dehumanized them. Ripped away that protection and told them to get out. This is a stain on the soul of this Nation.
It's all just so stupid. All the time. I am so tired of the stupid. The evil and the cruel is bad enough, and some day people will go to prison for that. But the stupidity of it all is what really gets to me on days. It's just so dumb and embarrassing.

So my kids got diagnoses and I am almost certainly AuDHD myself, and I am thinking about my family tree, including my Boomer dad. He's in DEEP denial about the genetics. Would never get tested, would reject the results. When I called a few months ago, he railed about New Balance changing shoelaces.

Anyone who’s ever had a toddler fall asleep in the back seat knows this look. The kid struggles to stay alert but the somnolence is too strong. The head flips back, then it’s lights out, and now you’re going to either park under a tree or drive aimlessly for the next hour

Gwen Snyder is uncivil@gwensnyder.bsky.social · 4w agoOne factor: childcare has gotten so expensive that women are increasingly staying home with preschool-age children instead of sending them to preschool. There is legitimately a crisis in early education right now because of consequent under-enrollment.
As @jessicacalarco.com says, women are our social safety net in this country. Some of that work had been institutionalized and compensated (under-compensated, but it was still compensation). Now even that part of the net is unraveling.

First time DV cases in a lot of states, unless there is strangulation or extremely aggravating circumstances, are often misdemeanors with guideline probation. Meaning he never goes to jail, let alone prison, and if jail it's usually not long. This is why a lot of victims don't want to testify.
