My washing machine works totally fine except for one part. The sensor that checks whether the door is closed properly is faulty, so every time I put on a load I have to do a merry dance to convince the sensor that the door is shut before I can get my washing done.

Remember everyone, we can't do anything to mitigate climate change because the mitigation will disrupt our lives too much whereas catastrophic climate change won't affect us at all. I think that's correct, anyway?

A massive wildfire broke out yesterday in Gallipoli, Italy, tearing through pine forests along the northern coastline. Driven by strong Tramontana winds, the fire spread rapidly between the coastal areas of Padula Bianca and Rivabella, forcing the evacuation of beaches and nearby residential areas.

They also have a holiday guide to Cap Ferret (which has just been evacuated because of wildfires). Not the happiest day for the Times editorial team

When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.

Takes a special kind of thinking to see the wild fires raging around Europe, thousands of deaths from this year's heatwaves (so far) and conclude "we need to expand drilling in the North Sea to give us the economic power to transition to renewables"
