I want to thank everyone who posts gift articles of really important stories that all Americans should read but are behind paywalls so most can’t. There are some stories that are so important to the public interest that media companies should remove paywalls on some occasions.

Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.” Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

The House will vote next week on one of several extreme anti-voter bills recently introduced in Congress. The so-called SAVE America Act could block over 21 million eligible citizens from voting by forcing in-person citizenship document requirements. Tell your representatives to vote NO.

Stop Anti-Voter Bills Now

The SAVE Act, the SAVE America Act, and MEGA Act could keep millions of eligible U.S. citizens from being able to vote. Urge Congress to reject these bills.

As far as I know, Tom Suozzi here still does not have a primary challenger in his district (NY-3 on Long Island). The filing deadline is April 6 for the primary on June 23, and if there's a remotely progressive town council member or PTA president in that district, this is the time to make a move.

Confronted Congressman Tom Suozzi, one of seven Democrats casting the decisive votes to increase ICE funding by $10,000,000,000.

Bondi's letter—essentially offering to stop attacking and murdering citizens in Minnesota in exchange for the state's voter rolls—shows what Trump, Miller et al. are really after: They want to fuck with the nation's elections so that they never have to cede power or answer for their crimes.

In the wake of another fatal shooting in Minneapolis. AG Pam Bondi sends Gov. Walz a letter today making several asks including: "Allow DOJ Civil Rights division access to state voter rolls"

McCarthy - awful choice and at best a lateral move (but probably a downgrade mentor and leadership-wise). 17 seasons with GB, 1 w/ Dallas, 174-112-2 reg, 11-11 playoff record and 1 SB. How is that any different/better than Tomlin w/ his 1 SB and 193-114-2? McCarthy is old, won’t bring innovation.

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social This is not enough. Read this and understand ICE is built on dehumanizing and getting guns and badges into the streets as fast as possible. The reforms you are hoping for do not address this internal festering rot. Do more, we need more slate.com/news-and-pol...

You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.

What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

On today’s show, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social told me House Dems plan to hold out for ICE reforms before supporting DHS funding bill that’s due by end of month. Jeffries wants requirements for warrants and that agents not wear masks during enforcement before Dems support that DHS funding bill.

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

“If enacted, it would create a two-tier federal workforce: one class protected by civil service laws, and another completely vulnerable to the whims of political appointees. Worse still, the measure is designed to coerce new hires into giving up their rights for the rest of their careers.”

Donald Trump wants a massive military parade for his birthday—tanks, jets, 6,600 troops—all on YOUR dime. It’s grotesque. A wannabe king playing dress-up with taxpayer dollars. I introduced the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act to block this nonsense. If he wants a party, he can pay for it himself.
