St. Pete, Florida. Broken by watching and yapping about soccer. Too much time on my hands. Design Nerd. Unhealthy Vices: Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tampa Bay Sun, AS Roma, Liverpool FC. (And also Boston Celtics, NBA/WNBA at large.)
I do have hope this opens up some markets for NWSL Championship that had previously been total no-go's due to MLS playoff field availability constraints
Berman on potential calendar shift by MLS and how that affects NWSL: "Being on spring to fall with MLS means that we have both our playoffs at the same time, and there are holds across dates with lots of uncertainty. With us being on differenc callendars, that's no longer going to be the case"
American executives are so well trained in milquetoast, unspecific soundbites.
NEW: US Soccer CEO JT Batson said he's "looking forward" to discussions around the future of FIFA's presidency, which will be a topic of conversation at the federation's board meeting in September plus, Batson talks Mauricio Pochettino's #USMNT return www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/...
I love that his “other ways of creating jeopardy” are exactly the same things that they are doing today. He’s an innovator.
Here was his full answer to the promotion-relegation question:
"In the World Cup, we all enjoyed knockout games after the group stage. I call those games of consequence or games of jeopardy." If only there were a US domestic knockout competition older than the World Cup itself that MLS could enter all its teams into.

This should be the entire Opening Ceremonies for the 2028 LA Summer Olympics.
Oh my god I think I found the video.
Don Garber has now referenced the l “we’ll take it from here” tagline twice (no one else on the stage has said it even once)
I bet that joke killed in the 70-85 old rich white guy demographic
"We love that tagline our marketing folks did," Don Garber said as he tells Larry Berg he'll "take it [MLS] from here." Can't escape it! It's the new "MLS is Back"
in case your wondering why they aint your mama's rockers of Cleveland- the name is took! blame the league. hit send

This is an interesting thought. We've now had three women's 'Sirens' teams come out in the last few years: – NY Sirens (PWHL) – Monterey Bay Sirens (USL W) – Cleveland Sirens (WNBA) Probably should have a moratorium on 'Sirens' for a bit.
I wonder what MB Sirens think about that soap
Yeah, its on the website now. Here is your WNBA Cleveland logo for the Cleveland Sirens.
Wrote about the @tampabayrowdies.bsky.social - @loucity.com epic on Saturday night. It's one of the most remarkable games I've ever seen - probably No. 2 on the list of all-time #USL-C game to the Miracle on the Mon, for me - and a defining moment for 2026. www.uslchampionship.com/news_article...

R.I.P. Don Garber. I really and truly hated you and I'll miss that thing we had. I'm sure I'll learn to hate the new guy too, but it just won't be the same without you.
SCOOP: Larry Berg will be the next MLS commissioner. More coming at @sportico.bsky.social via me and Scott Soshnick 👇
I went back to see if this was on the broadcast (and it wasn’t), but the Louisville players went directly to the corner to taunt the thick of the crowd at Al Lang after the second goal (jawing at fans, shushing the crowd) and that is super funny considering what ended up happening.
Louisville City get the fuck booed out of them as they come to intentionally mock the Rowdies crowd in the corner. Spicy. I like it. Haven’t had that spice in the few years.
The big Mauricio Pochettino piece, with his answers to some key questions: - Is he really committed through 2030? - How much will he open the door to young players? - Will he move to the U.S.? (Yes, he might.) And more... www.inquirer.com/soccer/mauri... via @phillysport.bsky.social

There’s a bit of history between the two teams. A competitive rivalry I’d say. But this is the kind of game that breeds hatred into that rivalry.
The Tampa Bay Rowdies and Louisville City might've played the greatest game in American soccer history last night. The Rowdies rallied from a 3-0 halftime deficit to win 5-4 and there were four legit BANGERS.
