We have a weekly order every week from #Kiva’s for their great challah. That they should be a victim of violence because they have Jewish owners is horrific. Schools, synagogues, restaurants, now stores. Call it what it is: anti-Semitism. Israel is not at all relevant. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

There are people who refer to the fact that my book's title (The Last Straight Woman) is not a demographic fact in a way that suggests they are in on the silliness of it, and others who seem to believe that this is a book whose author earnestly believes herself to be that thing.

This is a place where the Jewish-white blurriness jumps out. Bracketing if you think it's a *good* joke or not, to me this comes across as a self-deprecating Jewish joke. To other audience it is about whiteness.

I mostly do write my own headlines and I recommend this. Whenever possible as an editor I use an author's headline as well!

Imo this should be standard for Op-Ed writers online. I understand the realities of print and I understand that actual reporters are focusing on *reporting*. But take artists should be expected to come up with a catchy title that encapsulates the point of their piece while getting ppl to click.

Extremely room-temperature take, but you can tell when a book bends over backwards to have perfect ethics, and it almost uniformly makes for a bad book.

I've been thinking about this tension since the Klion hearts America at 250 kerfuffle on the other twitter. Neo-Bundist antizionism demands a kind of American patriotism, a kind of pride in being a European-American that is at odds with progressivism.

I didn't realize that Naomi Klein called Crabapple a "necromancer," and apparently as a compliment? I understand the guilty privilege psychology but it's still weird, the lockstep pivot to neo-Bundism (and therefore reverence for this book) as like a rite of passage/retroactive rationale.
