SCREEN ACT DIED IN COMMITTEE HELL YEAH Unfortunately KOSA -did- pass the Senate Committee, however we still have a few chances to make our voices heard to prevent it from passing. It will have to be voted in the Senate, and re-voted in the House due to the changes done to it. Its far from over.

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

im not going to lie, i dont know what I will do if this passes. So much of the stuff keeping me sane has been talking to me weird furry friends. to have it be torn away and having to dox myself to predators who paint me as the "real threat to society" is unbelievable.

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

(3) COVERED PLATFORM.— The term "covered platform" -
(A) means an entity -
(i) that is an interactive computer service;
(ii) that-

or
(Il) purposefully avails itself of the United States
market or a portion thereof; and
(iïi) for which it is in the regular course of the trade or
business of the entity to create, host, or make available content that meets the definition of harmful to minors under paragraph (4) and that is provided by the entity, a user, or other intration conten provider, with

In other words it’s less about the precise moral calculus of playing Wordle or reading HP and more about the general problem that trans people are tired of asking for solidarity and support and getting so little of it, even while we’re under systematic attack.

This is also why cis people still consuming Harry Potter feels like such a line in the sand. Asking people not to support one of the most well-known transphobes in the world wasn’t that big an ask but for a lot of cis people it’s still asking too much.

Things like seemingly harmless NYT consumption are big deals to trans people because transphobia, despite being intense and escalating these days, is an oppression often rendered invisible. Trans people are used to being abandoned by cis people, so even small abandonments have an impact.

"this stuff actually IS valuable. if it wasn't, people wouldn't be stealing it. rewatching hbomberguy's plagiarism video and just having to pause at the obvious but easily forgotten point that I needed to feel with my whole soul at this moment.

The last time I researched this, I discovered the timeline "sport is open to all; woman wins; sport is immediately closed off to women; women's league is eventually formed years later" is almost universal. Women's leagues were overwhelmingly created *strictly* to protect the egos of men.

the whole "women's sports exist to protect women from men" framing is hilarious, given that a lot of these divisions were initially formed because men were deeply embarrassed any time a woman beat them at a sport olympic shooting was mixed gender right up until a woman won the gold

It's taken me a long time to stop prematurely rushing to have a public opinion on controversies that are still unfolding. I think what really helped was being a part of a couple, and watching people immediately make judgements of me/my team based off of lies/incomplete information.

I hate A.I. far more than the average person, but I expected from the beginning that whoever put this together was *not* representative of the creative team behind the movie. Some of us have *got* to stop rushing to judgment. It's not fair to the artists doing their best.

I have no idea what's being announced for FFXIV because I barely played it but seeing as people are posting Final Fantasy opinions, here is mine; Dancing Mad is better than One Winged Angel. It has sections, it has motifs, it has SO MUCH crammed into it. Both are good, but Dancing Mad is better IMO
