Steven Pinker, the Intellectual Dark Web and Race Pseudoscience https://www.pinkerite.com Follow me if you like harsh criticism of race pseudoscience, Steven Pinker and the whole IDW gang from Bari Weiss to Peter Thiel to Elon Musk to Eric Weinstein etc.

For instance, he reportedly was at the 2025 Heterodox Social Science Conference organized by Eric Kaufmann. The program was widely posted, he's not on it. Claire Lehmann posted photos of herself with race science peeps but said nothing about Kirkegaard. www.pinkerite.com/2025/06/emil...

Of cours neither Cofnas nor the US ambassador would mention it, but the UGent website says the complete suspension was always going to be temporary, and he is still not allowed to teach and required to work from home pending the on-going investigation that could still lead to disciplinary measures.

Most of us feel sometimes like, "I wish everybody would like me, but I guess I'm not everyone's cup of tea." I strongly suspect that people like Nathan Cofnas and Richard Hanania are able to live with themselves because most of the people they've ever met hate them, and they accept it.

In the context of the Trump regime’s assaults on academic freedom and free speech, this means official U.S. policy is that race science is one of the very few things it’s acceptable to do at a university, and must be promoted by the state, while most other pursuits should be crushed by the state.

Nathan Cofnas and the US Ambassador to Belgium say that the University of Ghent have now lifted his suspension, thanking the US government for supporting him (with threats of retaliation). The Ambassador says that Cofnas will be able to complete his one year appointment to March 2027.

I am grateful to Rector Petra De Sutter for allowing me to stay at Ghent University. I look forward to continuing to work on the project, “The Future of Liberalism,” for 60% of my working time for the remainder of my one-year postdoc.

I wish to personally thank Ambassador
@BillWhiteUSA
. It was beyond my imagination that such a person would take an interest in the fate of a postdoc. The Ambassador responded with great support which helped to bring about a just outcome. Thank you,
@USAmbToBelgium
 and
@StateDept
 for defending American values. I am proud of my country.

It seems like Cofnas prefers the EU lol. That far right gravy train *is* funding him currently, while he's still over there. bylinetimes.com/2026/08/18/t.... EU media was also really excited to jump on the racist attacks against Arday, so much so they didn't even do ANY digging on Arday or Cofnas.

Dolly Parton lived with a gay man for years. She was a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ folks and a philanthropic champion of childhood literacy and education, vaccines, and the black people in her community. "We don't know what her politics were"? Please. She lived them. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/27/a...

Dolly Parton’s Cautious Politics Resulted in Widespread Affection

Bipartisan tributes demonstrated the success of the singer’s long-running effort to stay out of party politics in a sharply divided country.

Parton spoke in support of gay people for close to forty years. I am old enough to vividly remember the limb she was out on in doing so. So let me put it another way: We may not know what her politics were, but we certainly know what they weren't.

I hate this kind of thing, because just beneath its surface is a smug piety that treats "politics" as nothing but mess and rancor rather than as something with a direct connection to people's lives, and argues for being "above politics" as a kind of virtue. It's so dishonest. Anyway, good morning.

Nathan Cofnas was hired by my colleague Bouke De Vries, who attended the 2024 London Conference on Intelligence alongside Edward Dutton and Emil Kirkegaard. With more than 400 colleagues, I signed an open email to the rector to argue why we think this is problematic. www.vrt.be/vrtnws/en/20...
