this is why "and you're surprised?" is one of the top 5 most infuriating online responses to sharing upsetting news. surprise is not the only emotion, and it's not the only factor that makes something worth drawing attention to. it's weird to pretend being blasé about horror equals moral superiority

You can and should point out that police killing people daily is the "norm" in America. But that doesn't mean you *accept* the normalization of this violence and the way some people rush to smugly point these things out contributes to collective fatigue. Your horror has been stolen from you.

also sometimes people just don't want to see NSFW content without warning being pro-NSFW is both advocating for it AND properly tagging it for folks who don't want to see it (for any reason) just because I don't want to eat what's on their menu doesn't mean i want their table empty, yknow?

It's always important to remember that NSFW is not a moral judgement, it's about how much side eye am I getting from my manager if they see it on my screen.

This is Chootie. He looks like a dog, but from one of those 15th century paintings done by someone who had only ever heard about dogs. 12/10 (IG: chootieboy)

a very fluffy white creature with light brown markings on its back and ears is resting flat on some concrete tiles with a body like a slightly inflated bearskin rug. his legs and tail are merely puffy nubs, but his front paws are completely shaved for hygiene purposes, giving him the grabby-hands look of a feral raccoon. his face is an exuberant expression, with all his features slightly too close together, including his mismatched and somewhat human brown and blue eyes. he is simultaneously ridiculous and delightful.
