'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

- Did photo-bashed storyboards for a David Fincher thing that I can't ever put in my portfolio because the subject matter is viscerally upsetting - Explained volumetric cloud rendering to Chris Kattan - Licensed a track to Towa Tei, the DJ from Deee-lite - worked for Slim Goodbody for 2 years

Okay, my QUESTION OF THE DAY is… What is your weirdest actual accomplishment? Not the biggest necessarily…but the weirdest?

I went to highschool with a Jeremy Person. Also our librarian was Ms. Strange, and the school nurse at my buddy's school was Nurse Angst. Aaaalso I had a close friend in middle school named CHUCK BLENDER. Sometimes feel like my childhood was cast by a wry novelist.

New custom paper mache sculpture! Not my design; it's based on pics of a vintage-y Halloween decoration the client provided. It was a neat challenge; this is the most realistic human face I've ever made, and the painting/coloring style is very different than what I usually do. It's 13" tall.

A large sculpture of a devil head sitting at a three-quarter view; the face is a fairly realistic man's face with dark yellow eyes, it's got small red horns and a red skull cap, pointy ears and teeth, blotchy red cheeks and nose, and black eyebrows, mustache, and a beard that's just two small points. Front view of the devil head.Profile view of the devil head.

The new Ghost in the Shell has some absolutely gorgeous animation, with the color design being particularly juicy, but everything else about it just deepens my abiding respect for the madman Oshii. "He forces languid philosophical musical interludes into everything" Yeah AND?

Of *course* the newest and largest HDD in my desktop has started making pinging noises mere months after its 5-year warranty expired, at a time when prices are up like 60% Having a NAS now I've got no real need to replace it, but also not sure what to do with a "tests-OK" drive I don't trust. #PC
