Writing Weather With Special Characters for Degrees

Recently, I was entering the weather for a blog post. I just type my weather in manually when I want to include it. It was for a review of a book that took place in a region where they use Celsius, so I decided to include my current weather in Fahrenheit and Celsius. In the Apple Weather app, I tapped the option to change between Fahrenheit and Celsius. It was then that I noticed that ℉ and ℃ were not just a regular F and C with the degree° sign symbol, but their own unicode special character. Degree Characters Degree...

Today, while browsing through the Way Back Machine on Internet Archive, I stumbled upon an old website that I had made. This was almost certainly my first "professional" website, and I believe I made it in the year 2000 when I was sixteen. blog.shannonkay.com/2026/08-1... #OldWeb #Blaugust

The Gravatar profiles have a custom domain option that I might test out as a review(if I find time!). There's no connecting domain names you already have, but they are giving 1 year of domain registration for free, and have something built in for using it as a custom domain Bluesky handle.

Just noticed while visiting a Wordpress blog that #Gravatar has profile pages. I'm updating my gravatar profile page with current links because it shows if I comment on a Wordpress.com blog. Might be an ok "link tree" alternative for some? There's a custom domain option. Interesting.

The Beths Concert

We saw The Beths in concert. After seeing The Beths twice in 2023, we’ve had tickets to two other concerts that we didn’t make it to because of complications with our kids. This year, the perfect storm was created with The Beths playing on my husband, Jerrod,’s birthday right in our own county. We didn’t even have to drive to Los Angeles! For merch, we both got Straight Line Was a Lie t-shirts, and I got a tote bag and sticker! We took a selfie before the show started. It was actually a double headliner show show with Beach Bunny,...

i made this html+css template as an alternative to linktree for people who want to ditch it. you can host it for free on neocities! and it's yours forever :) if for any reason neocities falls in the future, you can easily grab the files and host them somewhere else.

Right! Linktree doesn’t offer anything novel from what I was coding into my old Angelfire sites

For those of you who are concerned about LinkTree starting to use AI, I've set up a linkstack instance at directory.theheart.land which you are free to use <3 NSFW okay, just no illegal or hateful things

Instead of Linktree, you could have a real website, and feature your socials and your channels, and even show your work if you want. ...and you would own it.

I started writing a tutorial for a basic HTML handmade "link tree" website a while back. I guess I should finish it.

People should consider replacing their linktree with a fun little Neocities or similar

Bing has blocked neocities and all user subdomains from its search index. We’ve spent months trying to resolve this through official channels and gotten nowhere. Until this gets resolved, we are recommending that people do not use Bing. Blog post with details: blog.neocities.org/blog/2026/01...

Neocities Is Blocked by Bing

Over the past few months, the Bing search engine has completely blocked the domain neocities.org, including the front site and all user subdomains (example.n...
