⭕️ REPORT | Iran and Ukraine trade accusations as the two wars converge in the Caspian

🔹Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine on Sunday of attacking an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, saying an explosion killed one sailor and wounded another, according to a statement carried by Iranian state media.

🔹It called the strike a violation of the UN Charter and “an act of aggression,” and said responsibility for the consequences would lie with Ukraine “and its supporters and instigators.”

🔸The accusation followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement Saturday that Ukraine had struck Russian warships and cargo vessels in the Caspian that it said were transporting military cargo between Russia and Iran.

🔸Ukraine’s Security Service, quoted by RFE/RL and United24, named two ships, the Port Olya 2 and the Begey, both under Western sanctions, and said it also hit a Lukoil offshore oil platform and a Russian missile boat. Neither government’s account could be independently verified.

🔸Zelensky separately alleged, in comments on X that Russia has been passing satellite imagery of Gulf states and US military bases to Iran, claiming a correlation between Russian surveillance and Iranian strikes on four air bases in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait on July 19 and 20.

🔸The Caspian strikes were part of a wider wave of Ukrainian long-range attacks that Zelensky described as retaliation for a Russian missile strike near Kyiv that killed at least 10 people, RFE/RL reported.Bild

A few weeks ago I shared my view that prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket should be made illegal. Today it was announced that Kalshi is now taking bets on FDA drug approvals and clinical trial outcomes. These markets are metastasizing and nothing good can come of it.

Kalshi to allow bets on clinical trials, FDA decisions

Prediction market platform Kalshi will start taking bets on the outcomes of clinical trials and FDA regulatory reviews, it said on Thursday, making drug-development odds public for the first time.

“As cases of Cyclospora-related diarrhea explode, the focus has been on identifying a particular food or ingredient that might be the source of the outbreak. But that narrow focus is short-sighted,missing that there are deeper factors that jeopardize us all.” Insights from @drjudystone.bsky.social

It’s The Water, Not Produce, Likely Driving Cyclospora Outbreaks

Contaminated irrigation or processing water is more likely the source of the Cyclospora outbreak. There are many systemic failures, outlined here.
