We had to let our sweet angry kitty go to the afterlife today. She was barely eating anymore, painkillers weren't effective, and she was getting weaker and weaker. I know she wanted to keep going, but her body just couldn't handle it anymore. Incredibly sad and heartbroken right now 😭

Kitty update: we got the lab results back and she's apparently has Bowen's disease, which can cause tumor lesions in older cats. She's healing well from her operation, but we did find a third lesion on her flank. Gave her a complete shave to check for more 😓

After a week of antibiotics and not seeing improvement, poor baby had surgery today to get the painful lumps removed. It was successful and she is currently resting. The lumps have been sent to a lab for testing - fingers crossed it wasn't something bad 🥺

Kitty was not entirely out of the woods after all. We discovered two abscesses (probably from her violent antics last vet visit) for which she is now being treated. It took 4 liquid snack tubes to examine her and get her blood, but other than the infections that she is in perfect health ❤️

Hey friends, sorry for the radio silence - last few weeks have been absolute chaos with work, a ttrpg deadline, cat emergency (poor bby stopped eating 🥺) and summer coming out of left field (allergies in full force and Lego office is a sauna). Kitty seems to be doing better ❤️

This is an interesting discussion topic. I think regardless of how much world building is necessary to tell a story, I find it helps to separate the world building from the story writing. Curious how other people approach this!

Every so often my opinion on worldbuilding is vindicated by its own largest communities online If you are writing a narrative, a linear story or set of stories, heavy worldbuilding is Sugar of Lead: it tastes sweet, but it poisons you bit by bit if you don't understand what you're working with.

The history, the geography, the political structures, the magic. I thought I was weaving it naturally into the story. apparently I was just writing an encyclopedia with characters occasionally wandering through it. The worst part is I reread the chapters after and they were right. it does read like a wikipedia article. I just couldn't see it before someone said it out loud. I don't know how to write the world without explaining the world. And smh my head it's all connected like you can't understand why the character does what she does without understanding the political context, you can't understand the political context without the history, and suddenly I've written four paragraphs of backstory before anything happens. how do y'all actually solve this!!??? "
