#WorldOceanDay: Thank you to Baroness Jenny Jones of Moulsecoomb, Fleur Anderson MP of Putney & Lord Cromwell (Crossbench, House of Lords) for joining us today to discuss how tackling upstream #pollution is essential for protecting #MarineProtectedAreas - and our wider ocean.

PML and colleagues from the Blue Marine Foundation and the National Oceanography Centre met with Parliamentarians in London this morning to share the latest science on 'Catchment to Coast'.

The session highlighted why managing our coasts is not just a coastal issue, examining the challenges created by disconnected policy, management and research frameworks. Discussions emphasised the need for integrated land, river and coastal management, urgent action on emissions, and how local interventions can help reduce pressures such as coastal acidification. The role of nature-based solutions, long-term monitoring and robust scientific evidence was also explored, including the importance of sustained investment in programmes such as the Western Channel Observatory.
