From my experience both as a former Waterstones events manager and author myself, I've found no group that's more welcoming and open about every aspect of their industry than writers (especially Crime writers). Are these folks getting stuff like this from nobodies on TikTok?

Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
