A few years ago my mom sent me some cryptic texts and when I called her she told me to go where my husband couldn't hear. I was worried it was something really bad, but it turned out she rescued this limited edition Blockbuster promo Spider-Man from being trashed and wanted to surprise him. 😂

Photo of a life-size Spider-Man attached to a base and metal pole frame. The inside is made of foam pieces, and the outside is covered in a full screen-accurate costume from the 2002 movie. You can't tell in this photo, but there's an authentication plate on the base that identifies this as being part of a limited series made for Blockbuster stores. Behind Spidey is a very packed LEGO city on a table.

My mom: "Call me." Me, assuming something terrible has happened: "What's going on?!" Her: "Check your texts. I bought you a 4-foot disco ball skeleton." 💀

A disco-ball skeleton that is roughly half the size of a human

I spent my whole life trying to be strong and emotionally regulated, and now I’m perimenopausal and processing 45 years of repressed feelings because I went to get an Oreo and forgot I ate all the Oreos last night.

We were watching the British version of Antiques Roadshow, and a ghostly painting of a fancy lad came on screen, so naturally I yelled, "HAUNTED!" and the speed at which my dad's head whipped up from his phone game to look at it is the only paternity test I'll ever need.
