It strikes me even with that sentence that our language is not up to the present task: “how to watch a film” has always meant interpretation, not “how to look in one consistent direction for about 100 minutes”

When you slow down and think about it you realize it's ten times worse than it seems. Sure it's farcical, but it's also a brutal legal attack on a man they knew to be innocent, done to distract from their own thievery and incompetence and as a flex to terrify anyone who might make them look bad.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. Just a reminder that in this country, the process is punishment. 24 hours in jail to process your arrest, money for bail, money for a lawyer, missed work for your court appearances...it all adds up. We do this to poor people every single day in this country. Many never really recover.

Dawson@delilahsdawson.bsky.social · 5d agoI hate how what I need to do is write books, and yet I keep thinking, "Maybe if I wore increasingly weird glasses and sat in front of my taxidermy with a bubble pipe and did unhinged houseplant reviews I could go viral and sell some books." Doing the work doesn't feel like enough, some days.
