The takedown of Jason Arday has overjoyed the right, and must be a wake-up call for the left | Jason Okundaye
The Cambridge academic has rightly now resigned. But that won’t end the targeting of senior black figures or the lazy way institutions promote faux equality, says Guardian columnist Jason Okundaye

Think this is spot on. It shows priority changes not just to comms but to reception too.
On the electricity VAT cut: the headline matters much more than the actual amount of saving. This story led Classic FM news today. I bet it did everywhere else too. It's basically the opposite of what Starmer and Reeves did with the WFA. It's a signal to voters about the government's priorities.
Adam Wharton, Cole Palmer, Trent Alexander Armstrong. Turns out we needed them after all (especially Wharton).

Was annoyed by Paraguay’s shithousery in the game vs France. Would have been “unnecessary roughness” in NFL but the ref and VAR largely ignored. Then I saw this - nb Chilavert ran for Paraguayan presidency in 2023 (won than 1% of vote) & ally of Javier Milei www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Philippe Diallo says the former Paraguay goalkeeper has ‘fallen into disgrace’ after his remarks about France’s roster

1) It's not clear leadership contests actually do the things claimed for them. Johnson, Truss & Starmer all won leadership elections, & Sunak fought one. This did not expose their weaknesses, bolster their authority or test their ideas. But it did see them making big promises they later dropped.

Letter received today… Dear UK Biobank participant 1) Re: UK Biobank data being listed for sale on a Chinese consumer website. Sorry about that. Sincerely. 2) I would be most grateful if you would provide your email address so we can keep you updated about UK Biobank?
Wondered what it was going to take… turns out it was the owner calling for race-based violence in and against Britons (again). Ashamed I didn’t do it sooner tbh.

I'll say it again: watching Robert Jenrick do "cunning politics" is like watching a toddler hide behind a cushion. "Where's Robert gone? THERE HE IS! Oh no! Where is he? THERE HE IS!"
