🌟New blog - updates from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It's a delight to work with Abi (@psychedmum.bsky.social) to bring updates on all things educational psychology, in Wales. The range of work and creativity is pretty inspiring! Read here: edpsy.org.uk/blog/2025/10... #edpsychs #Wales @bpsofficial.bsky.social

This is definitely my experience too. You have to understand the context in which the phrase was learnt in order to understand what it means to the person. Like one child I knew who would say ‘good boy’ when he wanted to end an interaction.

Thanks so much to @BPSOfficial and @cypnow for collaborating here, supporting solutions for all those that champion and advocate for our children. Reflecting on how we view and talk about children is an important priority for sharing how we support them 💜 www.cypnow.co.uk/content/blog...

School readiness: the power of words - CYP Now

A recent survey of primary school teachers in England and Wales found that more and more staff felt that increasing numbers of children weren’t ‘ready’ for school.

Ideas to support ‘mental health’ are often based on the that it is something completely internal and ‘within’ a person only. Yet, the reality is that we don’t exist separately from a context around us and our experiences of that. We can’t separate ourselves from this. They shape things for us. 1/4

A wonderful morning yesterday with teachers and students on the National MA Education (Wales) as part of the Emotional and Mental Health & Wellbeing Module. I created most slides from my hobby Insta graphics 💜 So proud to share & reflect with such champions of our children and young people 🥇🦸‍♂️

Photograph of a Laptop with cappuccino next to it. with an image of my first slide which has a picture of ‘There is a ‘me’ in mental health, but also a ‘we’ in wellbeing: Supporting ourselves to support others’

Always alongside, together, in appreciative collaboration. As we have been considering today at #PositiviTEA we are just humans; fallible, imperfect, a bundle of complexities... which is to be embraced 🥰 #EdPsychs

A key idea of ND-informed practice is to place ourselves alongside those we support, not above, not as 'expert' 🙏 @emergentdivergence.bsky.social It's vital we recognise, validate & learn from lived experience. See autismbooksbyautisticauthors.com/ways-of-bein... & email NDebooklet@outlook.com

Sometimes the professional is wrong
People are allowed to disagree with the professionals in their life, and we are not correct purely by virtue of our professional status. Learn to sit with the discomfort of being wrong, we grow as professionals particularly during moments of discomfort.
