The cutting edge in Digital Audio-Video Entertainment.

I just finished watching episode one of the new Ghost in the Shell TV series. When the first previews for the series came out I was optimistic because it was more GitS, but the initial impression I had was muted. The art style struck me as a too clean modernization of Shirow's original manga.

okay so AI is absolutely cratering imminently and I need all of you to PROMISE me you won't take the high road, and will laugh and rub it in their faces as much as possible. I need you to laugh and go 'WE TOLD YOU SO, BITCH" at every opportunity, PLEASE be extremely mean and ruthless

Good start to the day. After years of searching, I finally obtained (via Yahoo Japan Auctions) a copy of the extraordinarily rare (and not cheap) "Gekiga Jaws" manga. It first ran in Shonen Champion and got a tankobon in Dec 1977. After I obtain it, I'll make it a LOT less rare at timeldred.com!

"This is the first:" The 16 year odyssey of "time, money, wrong turns and frustration" it took to finally emulate the Pioneer LaserActive

In April 2009, a Sega fan decided to look into emulating the Mega LD, a quirky and little-known hybrid of Genesis and LaserDisc. This week he finished the job.

Whoa. That's a sprite, an elusive, high-altitude electrical discharge from a thundercloud photographed by NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers from the ISS earlier today. With reported sightings going back more than a century, this phenomenon was first photographed in 1989.
