So wait, we traded Duran last year for Esteury Ruiz to the A's, who then released him at the end of the year and we resigned in FA, and now we trade him *again* for Bubic?

Mark Feinsand post from Twitter saying the Dodgers are getting LHP Kris Bubic for RHP Carlos Duran

I still don't know what "can't afford" means. If an investment in an expensive baseball player goes sideways, how does that impact the owner of a baseball team or his family? Do people just not get the gap between "a baseball player's salary" and "the wealth involved in owning a sports franchise"?

Finally played Hi-Fi Rush - this is the kind of really solid 9/10 AA action game that studios like Naughty Dog cut their teeth on in the 90s and 00s, but because of how Big Corporate looks at game studios as either runaway hits or nothing, gets you shot in the head.

I gotta wonder how much Boob reporting that "someone" told him the Dodgers are his first pick in FA (translation: "I'm a rental unless it's to the Dodgers") diminished the interest of other teams

I am begging you not to believe gazillionaire baseball owners when they tell you Skubal going to the Dodgers means we need a salary cap. Competitive balance is not the reason they want a salary cap. They just want to spend less, and with more predictability, on total payroll. That is all.

It's a positive mark of my baseball follows (and Bluesky in general) that I see nothing of "MLB lies about Dodgers prospect rankings" talk except when I look back at Twitter for news/salt

The bar exam is an inherently prejudicial requirement that locks out lower income individuals from becoming attorneys, tests nothing that law school accreditation and proper standards don't, and does nothing to prepare new grads for legal practice. Abolish the bar exam.

I wrote about the hotass mess that hundreds of recent law grads in Washington are going through for no good reason! ballsandstrikes.org/legal-cultur...

If you weren't at the Daggerheart panel at GenCon, the secret is out! I've fallen off the face of the earth because I'm co-lead designing a setting book for Daggerheart!! It has been an absolute dream of mine and I get to work with some of the most amazing people in the world to bring it to life.

I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
