So wait, we traded Duran last year for Esteury Ruiz to the A's, who then released him at the end of the year and we resigned in FA, and now we trade him *again* for Bubic?
MLBers and Golden Tee, man. Funny to hear that Freddie is a god at the game, apparently.
Tarik, meet your new teammates!
I still don't know what "can't afford" means. If an investment in an expensive baseball player goes sideways, how does that impact the owner of a baseball team or his family? Do people just not get the gap between "a baseball player's salary" and "the wealth involved in owning a sports franchise"?
Finally played Hi-Fi Rush - this is the kind of really solid 9/10 AA action game that studios like Naughty Dog cut their teeth on in the 90s and 00s, but because of how Big Corporate looks at game studios as either runaway hits or nothing, gets you shot in the head.
I can't wait to hear the "but-but-but Dodgers bad" when the only contender in the NL that trades for starting pitching is us
The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring SP Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets, per sources.
I gotta wonder how much Boob reporting that "someone" told him the Dodgers are his first pick in FA (translation: "I'm a rental unless it's to the Dodgers") diminished the interest of other teams
I am begging you not to believe gazillionaire baseball owners when they tell you Skubal going to the Dodgers means we need a salary cap. Competitive balance is not the reason they want a salary cap. They just want to spend less, and with more predictability, on total payroll. That is all.
It's a positive mark of my baseball follows (and Bluesky in general) that I see nothing of "MLB lies about Dodgers prospect rankings" talk except when I look back at Twitter for news/salt
basically, the Dodgers turned Matt Beaty, Michael Busch, and $700k into Tarik Skubal it’s a high prospect cost, no doubt, but how they got here is wild
I think my favorite nervous baseball fan posts about this are fans joking about this being the trade for (INSERT MID-LEVEL EXPIRING CONTRACT), it's the right mix of humor and despair
it's that time of year
New Yorkers climing the ramparts to defeat the scourge of "not leaving leaking piles of garbage on the sidewalk

i propose a modest remedy: anyone who ever invokes the phrase "destroy the character of neighborhoods" or equivalent should be launched into the ocean by a trebuchet

Dustin May almost died from eating a salad without chewing enough and it punctured his esopahgus
MLB players are the thoroughbred horses of the human world in that if you take your eye off them for a second they will get loose and find some completely novel Looney Tunes way to suffer a catastrophic injury
The bar exam is an inherently prejudicial requirement that locks out lower income individuals from becoming attorneys, tests nothing that law school accreditation and proper standards don't, and does nothing to prepare new grads for legal practice. Abolish the bar exam.

Honestly I think the climate & clean energy world is too dominated by nerds preoccupied with Facts and Science. What they need to do is just hire a bunch of hot people to say nice things about clean energy online. Don't overthink it. Just hire hot people who know how to use selfie sticks.
If you weren't at the Daggerheart panel at GenCon, the secret is out! I've fallen off the face of the earth because I'm co-lead designing a setting book for Daggerheart!! It has been an absolute dream of mine and I get to work with some of the most amazing people in the world to bring it to life.
Look he literally has not lost a game this season with the Dodgers, can Skubal say that
if Scott Harris calls and offers Skubal for Lauer+, then Andrew Friedman may have something to think about. Hard to move a guy when the team is 9-0 on days he pitches, 3 or fewer ER in each outing, 6+ IP in six of those games!! #analytics #tradedeadline #teehee
This is what I mean by "we suck at promoting what government does". The only people who know the progress that CAHSR construction has made are nerds that follow a few YouTube channels that do drone footage of the construction. How hard would it be for CA to do this and send occasional press kits?

This is punishment for me wearing my Kiké jersey and Roberts not putting him in the game
jfc, no cap on construction and renovation costs? get a taxpayer check, renovate or build your ballpark with someone else’s money, then turn around and deduct the expense from “baseball revenue” if you’re a fan, and you’re on the side of the owners, you’re a fucking dope
lol
I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.
Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
unfortunately Dolby Vision often causes blindness due to science
no one can explain what dolby vision is. no one knows if it can be played on a television or computer monitor. it's impossible to say whether you are experiencing dolby vision right now. it's a lot like the matrix in that way
