FFS we cannot keep doing this… A handful of the richest people hoovering up wealth from everyone else while quite literally making the planet unlivable At what point does someone grow a fucking spine and do something?!

Is “pragmatic” the new, “grown up” word? Andy, there’s nothing “pragmatic” about drilling for more oil & gas - to even consider it with the planet literally on fire is total madness. How many times must we say it will do nothing for energy bills or security? It would be an act of utter recklessness

For years, Telegraph columnists told us climate breakdown is a hoax. Now they say: it's real, but it's too late to do anything about it, so let the bodies pile high (again). Just one long list of excuses not to reduce fossil fuel use. Such newspapers bear as much responsibility as the oil firms.

Terrifying to see wildfires raging through Scotland. The climate crisis isn't a distant threat - it's right here and right now. How many warning signs and alarm bells until Andy Burnham takes action to end oil and gas drilling?

At the moment, no I don't believe so. But the vast majority of wildfires are caused by humans, whether through neglect, or carelessness etc and given the current state of our climate and ongoing long term dry spells, to me it makes sense to implement permanent bans now.

Devastated looking at & reading about all the wild fires in Cairngorms, Spain, France. It’s all so terrifying, heart breaking. The little hope there is, is that everyone will follow what Spain are doing with ‘national pact against the climate emergency’ - now’s the time we all do this. #wildfires

The greatest global threat to both peace and a habitable planet is the government of the USA. It has been so for a long time, but Trump has nixed the deniability. We should stop treating it as an ally that has mysteriously gone astray and start treating it as a hazard to be avoided and contained.

I've always said i would welcome Labour when they do the right thing, and today's business relief for venues and pubs is a welcome respite for an industry at the heart of our communities.

While we've been living through extreme heat, wildfires and climate disruption, Equinor made £8.6bn in 3 months. Now Equinor and Shell want the go-ahead for the climate-wrecking Rosebank oil field. Andy, stop Rosebank and tax polluters. Protect our future, not private profit.
