I've been out and about today in the fucking middle of a heatwave which sucked. But I also had free time between appointments so I spent that time reading my draft and making notes. Only halfway through the 31K, but I don't hate it? Sure, it's more polished than the second half, but still. Weird.
It's happening today! Probably will go out sometime later into the evening, because it's past 1:30 pm and I barely touched it, so... but that means you still have time to sign up!
It's that time of the month again. Which means another newsletter is on the way - hopefully coming on Friday. It'll be a shorter one than usual, but at least it'll happen. I'll talk about books I read, writing updates, and more!
I'm not generally a touchy feely type of person, but I really could kill for a hug at the end of this fucking month. *sigh*
Oh, yes. Damien will get his fair share of reunions and he won't be happy about them. He'll meet his father after 10 years, who had become a prestigious person. His sudden appearance shocks him. He will also meet his half brother he knew as a kid, he just didn't know they were related.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters Let's talk about reunions! Do your characters get any specific moments where they reunite with someone from their past? Or someone they lost touch with earlier in the story? Is it a happy reunion or less so? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
I had a... let's call it a difficult night so I don't think sleep will happen anytime soon if someone's around to chat.

Look, I know this is a teeny tiny milestone in the grand scheme of things, but I just finished the draft of the first third of my WIP. It's a fucking mess for various reasons, but I'll have the whole of August to work on it before I hit part 2. 31K baby! So much for a short story, lol.

Today's #selfpublishedauthorappreciationweek is @authorkaraj.bsky.social. If you haven't read their Reanimator's series yet, you're seriously missing out. I love Felipe and Oliver and Gwen and just want to wrap them in bubble wrap and keep them safe from all the bad things!
I've just noticed, when I said you could request A NUMBERS GAME from Netgalley I didn't put the link up. So here you go. ASK AWAY www.netgalley.com/catalog/book...

Okay, waking up at 7 am definitely sucked. But maybe not as much as learning that I have to stay 3 hours longer at work than originally planned, and therefore I did not get ready for.
Waking up at 7 am after two weeks off sucked. On another note, I'm *this* close to finishing a draft for part 1 (of 3) of my WIP. I need to get it done by the end of Tuesday, so I can print it out before another 2 weeks off. If anyone volunteers to keep my ass being kicked until then, let me know.

I'm still looking for ARC readers for The Chosen One Con, so here are some facts: ๐ This isnโt your usual gaslamp fantasy! The setting features spells, potions, and TV shows! ๐ Our MC's are a sex worker and ex-factory worker who enter a contest of celebrity mages to find the prophesied chosen one!
When @nkolakowski.bsky.social is a finalist for Best First P.I. Novel, what else are we to do but put the book back up for request on NetGalley for more people to enjoy? ๐ You have until 31 July to request Where the Bones Lie here: www.netgalley.com/catalog/book... โ ๏ธ๐ฆด

I finally start feeling like a human being again, so today I'm going to play catch up, updating threads here on BlueSky, hopefully post my quarterly update I should have done earlier, and we'll see what else.

Being sick like a dog on the first day of my holiday was not on my bingo card ๐ At least I'm slightly better now so *maybe* I'll get to write that release day review I shouldn't left to the last minute... ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
I'm officially off work for 2 weeks! It would be an excellent time to get some gaming done if Steam was actually working on my PC ๐ Sooner or later I'll have to spend some money on this old thing anyway *sigh* it's becoming useless for anything but simple browsing...
We're alive! Unlike our victims! Just kidding, no victims were harmed in the setting up of this account.
My newest character is Gabriel, whose name is already mentioned before, but he appears now in person. He is a side character, but he has an important role in the story. He is Damien's half-brother and works for their father, who happens to be the newest Delegate of the Syndicate, the governing body.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters Yesterday, we talked about the first character you remember. Today let's talk about the last! (So far) Who's your newest character? Are they a side character? A main? Early in development or well established? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
Why past me thought making the quarterly update posts so fucking huge was a good idea is absolutely beyond me. I'm fairly certain I might have had a fit of intense self-hatred or something. JFC.
Fellow authors: Without any context, what's the first line of your current WIP? The stifling silence of the chapel is only broken by the wet cracks of leather on flesh.

When the author friends whose work I've been admiring for a while now compliment my little baby story is so fucking validating ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
OMFG I'm so fucking tired. But had the best day in a while and I needed it so much.
My new historical thriller SHADOW OF MADNESS is among the 2026 Summer Reads recommendations at Aspects of History! Grazie Fiona Forsyth for including it in her choices: aspectsofhistory.com/2026-summer-... [This novel isn't longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger, that was Carnival of Lies.]
