I've written two sequels (and technically a third which is like a sequel sequel lol) and in some ways they are easier, and in other ways they're harder. Easier because you know the story, world, and characters now. Harder because readers have ~expectations~ that are terrifying to fulfil!

Have you written a sequel before? If you haven't, what's stopped you? If you have, what were your most and least favorite parts about doing it? #WritingPrompt

It's been a bit since I posted Katie's GoFundMe, but I finally scheduled her 6 month post op follow-up, which involves at least a check up and x-rays (not sure about bloodwork), but last time, the visit was close to $1000 with all three. Shares are always appreciated 💜🐾

I spoke to trans masc actor and drag artist Ros Watt about letting trans people be monsters, making space for us in horror, and laughing at murder ahead of his debut full-length show, Trans People Are Awful.

Becoming the Monster: Ros Watt, Horror, and the Politics of Making Transness Abject — Exquisite Terror

In Trans People Are Awful, show creator Ros Watt argues that true equality also means the freedom to be abject and grotesque.

In The Cruel Gods, there are two gods that are respected above all others. Starting with the Glimmer god, Gildola, and this is because the Glimmer basically rule the Golden City above Chime, which gives them a lot of political and financial power. But the real power is Dor, god of time. #MythAugust

#MythAugust 5 Today is about hierarchy! Who ranks highest or lowest among your gods/spirits/whatever? Is there a consensus about this ranking? As usual, interpret the question as loosely as you need to to fit your specific worldbuilding, and feel free to skip if it's not relevant to you! 😊❤️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 5:
Let's talk hierarchy! Which of your deities are more powerful/respected? Are there minor deities who serve the big ones?

From my Cruel Gods series, each god probably has different factions and groups underneath them, but only those that the god themselves approves of. Most of the time they leave mortal affairs for their ambassador to manage and sort out, however! #MythAugust

#MythAugust 4 Today, tell me about the different factions among your gods/spirits. Think like the Æsir & Vanir in Norse mythology, or angels & demons in Christianity. What's their relationship? Are they sworn enemies? Sometimes allies? Interpret the question however makes sense for your story!

The Redstone Rescue is a fantasy novel set in a republic that cares for and protects its citizens, surrounded by avaricious kingdoms. Is is my response to our genre's obsession with kings and chosen ones. Not a story of revolution, one that asks how a better world can be preserved.

here's a fun lil exercise for cis people: how many articles would a publication have to print calling for your extermination before you would expect people who care about you to stop giving them money? and how would you feel if their excuse for still supporting them is some fuckass crossword puzzle?

If you're a new writer looking to publish your book, my biggest piece of advice is to do research into publishing, no matter whether you want to go trad or self-pub. And PLEASE avoid vanity presses and hybrid publishers that ask you to pay to publish your book.
