The thing is, there's a degree of privilege (or of privileging a certain experience) necessary to argue that civil rights, that trans rights, that immigration aren't "kitchen table" issues. Pretty much we need to ask these operatives "whose kitchen table are you talking about?"

I hear Dem operatives going on about how kitchen table issues matter. They do. But why the huge and disproportionate surge in black and Latino turnout? Surely it has to do with assaults on civil rights and immigrants. Democracy may not matter much to Dem operatives; it matters to lots of Dem voters.

I started the day really angry with Stevens. Now, I really think there’s something off, something maybe with mental health. Her affect isn’t normal. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s receiving the consequences she earned and deserves. But …. There’s something not right.

Anyway, Stevens is doing this because AES’s internals are good enough that he can tell her to take a hike instead of negotiating with her. This has the stink of a loser and the strong taste of sour grapes, and I think like 99% of the voters we need to care about in this race will see that.
